Castle- stv('How rude!') I get wanting to make it a quick and simple ceremony, but how the eff did they not invite Ryan, Espo, or Lainey to the freaking wedding?! Seems like a dick move on their part.
But heh, so in this alt-universe, since Kate never solved her mother's murder, does that mean all that stuff relating to it didn't happen? Is Montgomery still alive? Is Bracken on his way to becoming president? Also, there were like 2 HUGE cases that seemed were impossible to solve if not for Castle working with Beckett. First, was the one where those ex-spec ops guys were going to set off a dirty bomb in Manhattan and frame the Iranians. Castle was the only one who thought it was a frame job, so I would think if it weren't for him they wouldn't be looking in the right places, and wouldn't stop the plot in time.
The other was the one with Flashdance lady, where she was a secret mole in the CIA and was going to assassinate some high ranking Chinese government guy's daughter in order to collapse the world. Its like, had Castle not known her, the squad would have zero idea this was going on and thus not be in a position to stop it.
Though I guess it could be explained in any number of ways, Beckett and the squad somehow figuring it out on their own anyways, though not having as much fun doing so, someone else stepping up to the plate and solving it, the butterfly effect somehow causing those plots not to happen.
And I know they're trying to make it a darker universe (well, except for Martha), but I'm a little skeptical about some of that stuff, it seemed like they were stretching to find bad stuff happen. Like Beckett being a workaholic, and Javi sadly pining after Lainey, that's believable. But Beckett's workaholic-ism somehow trickling down to Ryan and causing him not to marry Jenny, or Castle being sad and somehow driving Alexis away?
The Originals- Some interesting reveals about the Mikaelsons. So, in the past, Esther and Mikael were having trouble conceiving, so she goes to her sister Dahlia and asks her to do magic so she can have a child. And so she does- and its a bit of a retcon in some people's eyes. Eagle eyed viewers figured from the cave etchings in Mystic Falls that the oldest kid was a boy named Aaron.
But nope, now they're saying Finn was a twin, and had a sister Freya, who was the older of the two. Anyways, as usual, all magic has a price. And Dahlia's was Esther's first born, and the first born of all her descendants. So Dahlia claims Freya while Mikael was away, telling her sister to tell him that Freya died of the plague and she had to burn the body to keep it from spreading. This caused two things- one, Esther went back to the dark arts to figure out a away to fight her sister. Two, Freya was the apple of Mikael's eye, so this was the impetus for them to go to the New World, so their kids would grow stronger and be safe.
Interesting though, does that mean Finn knew this the whole time, and kept it secret? It would explain why he's so loyal.
Anyways, this whole deal was why Esther tried to kill baby Hope, because if she was born, it would cause Dahlia to come back and go after the family to claim her. (which kinda reminds me of the Family Guy "Bigger Jaws" joke, where they're obviously setting up for a Mikaelson reunion where they forget their squabbles and band together against a bigger threat, their even crazier than Esther and Mikael aunt) I guess it sort explains the whole vampire thing- if they couldn't have kids, then Dahlia had nothing to claim. But since that kinda made them all crazy, its why Esther went with plan B- put her kids in new bodies so Dahlia wouldn't know they actually existed anymore and wouldn't know there are kids to claim. Which I'm skeptical about- Dahlia's a powerful witch, so unless them being in different bodies somehow subverts the deal (which I don't think it should), I would think she could detect their souls are in new bodies, and thus claim those kids.
Then again, I guess technically they're possessing witches, essentially taking over their lives, so technically, those are those particular witches' kids/bloodlines, its just they're the ones in the driver's seat getting to experience everything.
But yeah, because of her move against Hope, Klaus is unwilling to listen to his mom, despite all her overtures. She offers to put him in the body of a werewolf rather than a witch, so he can run free. When he taunts her by revealing not only that Mikael is alive, but that Kol hid the fact from her, she promises to protect Klaus and the rest of the family from their patriarch. She even brought his real father, Ansel, back from the other side. Which, its kinda funny that it was this big ordeal back in MF for Bonnie to try and bring everyone back. But like Davina brought back Mikael pretty easily, Esther apparently brought Ansel back no problem either.
(And I just realized, the whole Dahlia thing explains why she brought herself and Finn and Kol back in new bodies instead of just coming back as themselves)
In any case, she at least gives Elijah back, saying when he wakes he will finally make his choice on which side he'll join.
Meanwhile, the rest of the gang is looking for Elijah, then Oliver, figuring since they were taken together, if they find Ollie, he might be able to tell them where Elijah is. Meanwhile, Cami figures out there's more to Vincent than he's letting on, and Marcel tells her, that Vincent is really Finn. She thinks Finncent has a thing for her, so she thinks they can use that.
She distracts Finn so Hayley can look for Oliver. Or rather get Oliver, because Esther and Finn announced he would be at the cemetery, set to die at midnight for his treason. She can't go by herself, so she tries to get Jackson to help, but he's done with all the vamp-wolf-witch war, so instead Ansel helps. They don't know he's Klaus' father, back from the dead, Jackson had just met him after being left for dead in the bayou by the Guerreros. Ansel protected him and nursed him back to health. Being a former king of wolves, he goes with Hayley to try and limit the bloodshed and rescue a wolf (Oliver) from death.
So with Finn with Cami, and Gia and Marcel backing her up (they both get bit, but we find out Marcel does have a secret stash of Klaus' blood, just for cases like these), Hayley and Ansel get Oliver, and Ansel holds some of them off. The rest are cowed by Ollie's speech, where he lambasts them for being lapdogs to some witch.
Alas, they bring him back to the bayou, where he gets to apologize to Jackson before dying at midnight. They thought Esther and Finn were going to execute him at midnight for all to see, but turns out they didn't do it live, they set an alarm. Which kinda makes sense as a failsafe.
Klaus does get to meet Ansel, whom he recognizes from long ago. At first he thinks its a trick by his mother, an illusion or something, but nope, Esther explains its really him. Interesting, so now all of Klaus' parents are alive.
