TV commentary:
OUAT- Interesting. So in Arendelle past, Hans and his brothers are amassing an army to invade. Kristoff spies on them and discovers Hans is seeking an urn to trap Elsa. He overhears the location, and since he knows where that is, he and Elsa beat Hans there. Unfortunately, they delay in destroying it because Elsa sees some runes on it which she think could help her find other magical people like herself.
So, Hans has time to catch up. Elsa and Kristoff managed to defeat the brothers Hans brought with him, but he gets the jump on Kristoff. So Hans threatens to kill him unless Elsa gives up. Elsa does, and Hans opens the urn, intending to trap Elsa, but it turns out the urn contained the Snow Queen (actually, does she have a Storybrooke name, if they mentioned it, I missed it) who gets out and freezes Hans.
Then she eventually reveals she is Elsa and Anna's aunt. So apparently Elsa knew her. But not now, since she doesn't recognize the Snow Queen when she sees her in the present in Storybrooke. The Snow Queen claims rock trolls erased Elsa's memory, like they did to Anna in the movie, so she doesn't remember.
But yeah, in the present, Robin takes his son to the ice cream shop. Which is kinda awkward because the kid is all, "Oh, can we go, Regina always let me!" So Marian really has no choice. But she's never experienced the joy of ice cream anyways, so its a treat for her. Well, until Snow Queen magics the cone she gives her to make her ice up like Anna did in the movies. Its a slow freeze, so she doesn't actually become ill until the town meeting (which Snow labels as a "fireside chat", ugh)
Which is bad since one of the agendas was about the ice wall still surrounding the town, which Snow reveals may have been caused by Elsa. So Marian collapsing from something cold related isn't doing her any favors. In fact, the town wants to form a lynch mob. Grumpy I can understand, but it seems messed up Granny is all for it. On the one hand, she's tough and takes no guff. But Archie says they don't know all the facts and shouldn't go off half cocked. Which should resonate with her given not a few seasons ago the town wanted to lynch Ruby for something she didn't do. So you'd think Granny would call for restraint. But nope.
But that's neither here nor there. Lucky for Elsa, Hook didn't take her to the sheriff's station, he took her to see Gold to ask for his help. And how did he get Rumpel's help? By revealing he figured out Belle doesn't have the real dagger. So unless Rumpel wants to be outed as not under Belle's control, he'll find out the source of the magic that froze Marian. So he does, and it leads them to the forest and the Snow Queen, where as I mentioned earlier, she reveals that she and Elsa knew each other and the Rock Trolls made her forget.
Meanwhile, Emma is doing her own investigation with her dad. They find Will Scarlett (wait, where's Anastasia?! Or is there a weird time thing going on where this is before Wonderland? We have no frame of reference for when it took place with respect to OUAT) who says he was robbing places during the blackout and how the Ice Cream Shop was still cool despite the lack of power.
And indeed, Emma figures out there isn't an actual refrigeration unit since there's no tell tale hum of a compressor. And heh, while the Charmings are distracted with that, Will robs the register and runs off. HA!
At this point Emma hears Hook's message that he found the one responsible for freezing Marian and heads to the forest, where Hook has gotten trapped in ice and about to get icicled to death. Apparently the Snow Queen wants to frame Elsa so she'll see how fickle "ordinaries" are and how they'll turn on her eventually anyways. So she wants Elsa have no where to turn but her.
But Emma saves the day, and apparently the Snow Queen knows her too, but Emma doesn't remember. But she does know something is familiar about her. And it turns out Gold knows exactly who the Snow Queen is, and that she somehow knows Emma and its prolly good that Emma doesn't remember. So he offers to be around to help if she asks, because deals are his thing.
Other stuff- so Emma's being overprotective of Hook and keeping him at arm's length because she's starting to see herself as a black widow- Graham, Neal, even Walsh, who was a spy, died on her. Hook promises he's a survivor and they kiss on main street.
Archie meanwhile talks to Snow about a problem he noticed with her- Neal is always at her side. Like yeah, he's a baby, and so he needs constant care, but she won't even get a babysitter to watch him while she has things like town meetings, where a baby would not be appropriate. He points out its probably a complex over what happened with Emma and missing her whole life, she doesn't want to risk missing anything with Neal. Archie says she needs to let go just a little, and things will be fine. He has a point, but heh, at the same time, I wouldn't put it past the fates to have something happen to the kid if she did let her guard down.
Regina tries to suss out the author of the book from Henry, but he doesn't know. And he wonders why she's wondering all suspicious like, because his momma didn't raise no fool. And I hope Regina is being truly truthful here- as she said before, she wants to find the author and make... er ask them to give her a happy ending. I want this to be character development for her, that she may have sounded hostile towards the author before, but now that she's with Henry, she'll try to find a more diplomatic solution if they find the person.
Particularly since Henry is wholeheartedly embracing this idea. His mom is a good woman, she deserves a happy ending.
At this point, Robin goes to Regina for help with Marian. True love's kiss doesn't work. They play it off as the ice forming a barrier preventing the magic from getting through, but when they're alone, he reveals to Regina its because he loves another. Presumably her, but he never says it. But he's married to Marian and he's keeping that vow. Heh, is Regina going to ever reveal that she knew he was her true love, that Tink guided her to him a long time ago, but she chickened out. And so Robin met Marian and they had a kid?
Anyways, since they don't capture the Snow Queen, the only way Regina can think of to save Marian is to rip out her heart and store it. If its not in her, then the ice can't get to her heart and kill her. So right now Marian is like a frozen statue lying on a couch in the Mayor's office. Heh, are they going to take her someone else, or just leave her in there?
WO blather- Between crafting orbs and the blacksmith store, I've actually managed to almost get everyone windslay and tri-element +10. I only have a handful of people who don't have those maxed, but even then, I think the lowest windslay is a +9, and maybe a couple of people with only tri-element +8. I'm just surprised is all, I was thinking it was going to take longer to get everyone's weapon attributes the way I want.
But yeah, I've also gotten to the 4th floor on the purple path of Gauntlet. So just need to sweep that up and then finish the other paths again. I also have done all the non-named troop requests from the mystic, so now its all a matter of just finding stages with those troop types.
As I've said, I've promoted everyone else once already. Just need to get them back to lvl 100 to unlock those last two slots. Which can be done on the way to getting max proficiency on their secondary skill, maxing compatibility with their X-weapon and acquiring their mystics. And once they're done with that, I can use xp from gauntlet mode to max the stats of everyone I so desire. The ones I have maxed out right now are Ayane, Xu Shu, Mitsuhide, Xu Shu, and Kojiro. Xiahou Dun, Zhang Liao, Xu Huang, and Wang Yi are almost there.
I do have a whole bunch of people I want to max. Depending on how quickly I get xp and gauntlet, I might actually end up maxing everyone.
I am getting old though, and my reflexes aren't what they used to be- I can't remember if I mentioned the usefulness of the heavenly sash/raiment of unrest combo for technique people. It allows you to sidestep after a charge attack (and the raiment makes you invincible for a second while doing so). So you can use it to cancel out of the end of a charge attack- like after it does its damage but before going into recovery frames. This lets you have a constant offense going. But yeah, if I was younger, I'm sure I could have the timing down better. Like sometimes I'll miss the cancel, or I'll do the wrong charge. And I guess attacking immediately after the sidestep is the equivalent of coming in with a running attack. So I either have to pause before attacking after the sidestep or count out an extra normal attack to get the right charge. I just feel I'd mess up less where it 20 years ago.
