Defiance- Okay, the 2nd of tonight's eps was pretty freaking awesome. So Alak's little whore Deirdre/Treasure Doll (whom he broke up with in the previous ep) is murdered. Alak's affair is exposed, and he's arrested for her murder, though not without the bloody microphone used to hit her that was under his bed. Lucky for him, one of the handmaidens found it and took it to Stahma. His mom gets him out of it by getting some sick Casti to take the fall, and provide the bloody microphone as evidence since Amanda (who was deputized this ep, because Nolan was busy with Irisa stuff and ran out of deputies), in exchange for taking his daughter in as a handmaiden. After all, their favorite handmaiden died and they need a replacement, and he's dying anyways, and needs someone to take care of his daughter once he's gone.
Amusingly enough, since Alak's parents were both aware of the affair, and Stahma had asked Datak to shut it down for the sake of family stability (he refused), each thought the other did it. Stahma though, confronts her husband because she was confused as to why she would try to frame Alak for it, defeating the purpose of killing Treasure Doll. But then she realized it was Christie who hid it under the bed (since its her bed too), not to frame her husband, but to hide it. Stahma laughs hysterically, and I think she's like totally proud or something. Like she was just remarking to him how she thought Christie is weak, and not like them, and how this time in jail will make him realize the error of his ways. Now I think she respects Christie.
But yeah, Christie admits it all to Alak, going all Casti on him, saying not to step out on him again. And then they have sex in the bath.
What is doubly interesting about the whole thing, is we're also shown Amanda flashbacks, where apparently Amanda had a sort of big sister relationship with Deirdre (since Kenya was missing that whole time). Its how Amanda figured out she was having an affair with Alak- Deirdre had been bragging about her new secret boyfriend, who's the son of a client (Datak). And she flashes back to when Deirdre was upset about Alak dumping her. And since it seemed Deirdre really loved him, Amanda recommended she fight for him. Little did we know what she set into motion!
So we see why Christie killed her- she was invited up to the arch for a friendly picnic. One in which Deirdre tried to poison her to make her lose her baby. Unfortunately for Deirdre, Christie's senses are heightened because of the pregnancy, and she could smell the poison in the juice. So Deirdre tells her about the affair, about how Alak won't leave her because she's preggers, and how its not fair because Christie came from money and she married into money, and now its Deirdre's turn. And so Christie defenestrated her.
Other stuff- interesting, until Irisa tried turning Tommy (who was controlled for a while, but his body rejected the whatever thing that's in her), I didn't realize none of the possessed were human. And wow Quentin is a little shit. So in the first ep, he blows up a mine to kill that one E-rep chick from last season, and Rafe figures it out. He confronts his son, who beats him up, calls the E-Rep, saying his dad was responsible, and he hit him to stop him from getting away. Apparently Quentin did this to get his mom back from the Votan.
Rafe takes the fall, because he's always been about protecting his family. So his mom (played by Linda Hamilton!) is free, though when she finds out what happened to Rafe, she slaps the taste out of her son's mouth. He thought he had gotten one over on the E-Rep, and was confused why his father took the fall, so his mom chastises him for being an idiot, and is all, "Duh, because he's still trying to protect you, even though you betrayed him, dumb ass!"
