TV commentary:

Finding Carter- Oh, weird, I didn't even think about that. So, apparently its Carter and Taylor's b-day. Carter had no idea it was her birthday. I guess she wouldn't necessarily. Lori might not have even known when her real b-day is, and even if she did, she might not celebrate it on that date, instead choosing something more significant to her. Indeed, she picked the day she kidnapped Carter as her b-day, so every year, Carter has been celebrating the most horrifying day of her family's lives. Whoops! And that flashback was hilarious, where they made a point for Lori to say, "Oh, its my favorite day of the year, the day you made me a mother!" HA, way to not actually lie! And how creepy is it that she had a copy of that picture when Taylor and Carter were kids, or rather, half of a picture, the half with Carter. Also, going to the hospital on the fake b-day all, "Hey, as a gift, we're going to grab one of these babies for you!" I mean, obviously they didn't, but given the whole situation, its quite twisted!

But yeah, poor Taylor, the surprise celebration is as much a shock to her, since being twins the shared b-day was a reminder that Carter was gone, so they kinda didn't do much on that day. And Carter is incredulous that Taylor would be pissed if she let with Lori again? What the shit? (Which, their house must have great sound proofing, because how the eff did the rest of the family not hear that argument, they could prolly hear Taylor down the street!) I mean, she has to know her family would once again be devastated. And to do it right when they just started celebrating again? What is she thinking? I like how she was all, "clearly there's nothing I can say!" Yes, there is no good response to defend going off with the lady who kidnapped you and screwing over your family.

I get that she thinks of Lori as her mother, and she spent more than a decade with her. But she can't have it both ways- I mean, even she realizes she can't be with Lori and her family, so she has to choose. But she's ridiculous to think that Taylor won't hate her for choosing Lori. I mean, Taylor was showing tons of restraint just by not telling on her. Also, I'm amused that when she found out that Max knowing, I thought she was going to be mad at him. But she was happy, because it explained why he was acting so weird, and you could see in her face she was doing a little dance on the inside when Carter said Max was not pleased at all about having to host that meeting.

And speaking of, glad Max was decidedly unchill for once, saying that if she went with Lori, they couldn't be friends. Which is interesting, because unlike her family, Max could still conceivably be with her. But nope, he's made his choice, he is firmly in the stay with her real family camp, and if she goes, they're done. It is funny how Taylor's his favorite of the twins now. As I've said before, Carter shows up and is all Miss Cool and Popular and gets all these friend, so I like that Taylor was able to steal a person of her own from Carter.

And ha, Gabe was apparently oblivious about Taylor and Max? All, "hey dude, why aren't you off playing games with Grant?" and Taylor and Max being all, "because we're together, idiot!" No offense to Gabe, but he kinda missed what he had with Taylor. So its hard to feel too sad about him losing Taylor to Max and Carter to Crash. (Not that they were his to lose in the first place)

Anyways, thankfully Carter finally got it as the ep went on and everyone was all, "Yeah, it would totally suck if you ran away again!" Well, not everyone. Crash was cool with it, but that's because he wanted to go with her. Which I think was sobering for Carter, because 1) Lori would prolly nix that idea and 2) he's on probation. Running away with her would pretty much forever ruin his life.

But yeah, Birdie gives her like a solid gold diamond encrusted "friendship" bracelet. Like she's all, "I know we would've been life long friends, and I would've given something like this to you eventually!" Which, I know Bird's rich and all, but that's kinda intimidating. And then Ofe says his goodbyes and Carter is all, "Stop talking about me in the past tense!" Um, you're kinda leaving forever, so what do you expect?

So eventually it comes time to blow out the candles and being with all these happy family and friends does get to her, as does Taylor telling her it was her best b-day ever, since its the first time they actually celebrated it since Carter was kidnapped. Also, saying her wish when she blew out the candles (which, that cake looked way too small given how many people were at the party!) was not to lose her sister.

In the end, she fesses everything up to David, and she at least wants to Lori to know she's not coming and she's sorry, and she dreads saying that and telling her she does love her, but Lori not saying it back. Its kinda sweet since she never had a dad, that she asks him to help fix this, and being her father of course he will. And he's such a corny guy, all, "I can't tell you how I'll fix this, because its the dad code to fix things without letting the child know how it was done!" I get the sentiment he's trying to say, that the kids don't need to know how the sausage is made, just that they can trust that no matter what it is, their dad can make everything work out. But given what we know, it comes across as incredibly shady.

So he's the one who calls Lori for her, saying, sorry she's not coming. Tts clear from the convo that something has definitely gone on between them. Which again, makes the whole convo a few eps ago when Carter was all, "I wish you could've met Lori as a person, you guys would have gotten along great!" pretty creepy. But yeah, there's definitely some red flags in that convo- Lori saying he was never a good liar, and how he always underestimates her, and him telling her he won't do it again. It seems like they're setting it up that they used to be a couple (again, Liz once remarking David had a penchant for brunettes).

Heh, like daughter, like mother though. Lizzie is insane to still think she hasn't been caught. Isn't she a detective? I mean, she has to know David and her mom hate each other. Why the eff would he just start trying to make small talk about some spa weekend? Still, it was hilarious that her mom ran with it, because she was totally hoping her daughter was having an affair and would dump David. But seriously, David confronts Kyle, and she still thinks he knows nothing. Although I guess it was a hilariously weird convo with David being all, "Got a hot date?" and Kyle was, "I wish!" and David replying, "Yeah, well I guess Elizabeth IS stuck at this party!" So of course Kyle ask him what he means, and David asks him what he thinks he means.

So Kyle recounts the exact conversation, and I don't know if Lizzie is just in denial, but she thinks he's reading too much into things. He didn't outright accuse him! Its called an allusion, Liz!

But yeah, I was confused at first when David told Liz everything about Carter almost leaving, but choosing them. Like when he was all, "Here's where she is right now, you should go arrest her!" But Liz is just happy Carter chose them, and she promised she wouldn't hunt Lori. So I was thinking maybe David was going to try and make Lizzie the bad guy for arresting Lori so he looks better after the inevitable break up. But then he was all, "Lets call Lori and tell her Carter's not coming!" with this look of glee on his face, wanting to rub it in Lori's face.

So after the phone convo I mentioned above. Lizzie thought David was so cool, and I guess he was actually trying to make himself seem so awesome to Liz (he is kinda an egotist). Indeed, they totally do it after the phone call. Which again, is creepy for several reasons. He knows about the affair and he has some connection to Lori his wife doesn't know. Its like all that melts away once Lizzie is looking at him all starstuck again.

And poor Grant, wow, no one really did notice him. Yes, there's a lot of big things going on, but its still kinda effed up! Particularly in the scene where people just pile a whole bunch of coats on him and he falls over because its too many coats, and his grandma is all, "How hard is it to hold a bunch of coat?!" What a bitch! Like what is up with her, the aforementioned being willing to lie for her daughter about the affair, telling Crash he has a sexy name? That's kinda weirdly hilarious. Is she having like one of them older life crises?

But yeah, Grant hides in his closet, and Gabe, sad about the twins finding other dudes hangs out with him. Ha, Gabe is even more depressed when he learns even Grant has a gf. And then they find out that their parents are having an affair! He mopes about it late at night, and Carter sees him after telling David to fix things for her, and she thinks he's sad because he heard she was about to leave, and reassures him she isn't. Of course, he had no idea, and is all "Good, because we'll need you now more than ever!" She asks him what he means, but he chickens out telling her about the affair.

Which, wow, between her dad secretly writing a new book and Liz sleeping with Gabe's dad, she is going to be ultra upset when she learns all this!

Still, there were some nice and cute things in this ep, like Taylor and Carter randomly picking out the same dress. Aw, they really are twins! But they're right, it is kinda corny though for them to be dressed the same at the party. Like yes, they did that the last time they celebrated their b-day together, but they were like 3. Its a little weird to do it when you're 17. Particularly if you're not identical twins. Also, I did like Carter being all, "Its no contest, you win!" initially, wanting Taylor to have the dress. I don't think it was like a lie to be nice to her sister- I mean, yeah, Carter is ridiculously hot, and no offense to Taylor but the one they'd call the "pretty one", but the blue dress went more with Taylor's blue eyes.

And its interesting that the only memories Carter seems to have of her old life are of her gramps. Wonder if they'll ever say why that is.
