Definace- Nolan can be a dick sometimes. But a sly dog too! Churchill was cool, but Nolan acts like he's no better than a disposable robot. I mean, Pottinger said the guy was one of his closest companions for years. Yeah, he's kind of a douche, but it wasn't cool how blase Nolan was about the whole thing. Like Pottinger said, would he have sent Irisa in to hold off whatever the hell that is?
But yeah, Tommy finds out about Irisa's secret. I'm actually shocked her little friend didn't make her kill Tommy. But yeah, Tommy was kinda pissed at Nolan treating him like crap, so he quits. He was planning to leave Defiance with Berlin, but that was before he learned about Irisa's secret. Irisa doesn't want him to go because she's the only one she can trust, the only one she can share the secret with, because apparently Nolan will die if he ever learns about it.
So Tommy is in a shit position. He tells Berlin he's not going anymore, and she knows its about Irisa. He says its not like that, that he's just being there for her as a friend and to trust him. Obviously he can't tell her what's going on with Irisa, but given his history with her, Berlin can't trust him. So they break up. And she immediately goes and sleeps with Nolan, which is hilarious! I mean, hey, she's cute, so I can't blame him.
But given she's Tommy's ex-gf, its a little creepy. I mean, Tommy's like a son to him. And he used to go out with Irisa, who is like his daughter. So its doubly highlighting the age difference. Its like screwing someone his kids went to school with!
And Stahma as usual is tricksy. Her people are trying to re-strengthen the whole patriarchy putting the women down thing, planning to boycott the fight tent because its obvious she's in charge, which is scandalous. So, she has a sewing circle with the main preacher guy's wife and her equally "a woman's place is subservient to the males" friends. Then Stahma totally poisons them and frames the preacher guy.
Datak is highly amused. And hey, Datak is a dick, but I do enjoy he and Stahma's chemistry. I mean, obviously he's at odds with her and is plotting his revenge, but even he can appreciates Stahma's shrewdness.
And in the weirdest part of the episode, the E-republic person played by William Atherton and Christie separately go to some club in White Face, pretending to be Casthian. Heh, do they realize they're pretending and they're both humans? Is it some club that's full of fake human Casthian-posers? Or are those other folks real Casthians, and everyone is fooled by their disguises?
