TV commentary:

Finding Carter- Since my last post was about Finding Carter, I decided to actually check it out out of boredom. And see, this is the reason for streaming. I get the networks want their ad revenue, and whatever, I'm totally fine with commercials on the stream. But its like, if I hear about a show and I missed the beginning, its nice to be able to go online and catch up.

But I digress. So her grandparents are the Chief from CHiPS and Alex P Keaton's mom. But ha, I kinda feel sorry for the twin sister. She's like all plain jane, and then her twin sister is found and she's all cool and hot. And Carter is all, "I'm so glad I didn't grow up here!" when it turns out Taylor is all sheltered and has never been to a party. Its like geez, do you think maybe your parents
were over-protective with her and didn't let her do anything because you were KIDNAPPED? But yeah, Taylor tells Gabe as much at the party. Which yeah, that has gotta suck- as she says she was living with the constant fear of what happened to her sister, and Carter was living the high life.

And Gabe, who she likes, is totally into Carter? How deliciously cruel! Like way to twist the knife, life! But wow, what a dick, trying to kiss Carter while Taylor is passed out in the back seat? And then when Carter tries to put the kibosh on all that, she couldn't do that to her sister since its obvious she's into him, he's all, "she's like a sister to me! I could never think of her like that!" Its like what the shit, how do you know she can't hear you?

Hilariously, Taylor is trying to be all cooler for Gabe, who's all "I didn't think parties were your thing!" and she's all, "Well, they are, take me to some more!" and he's all, "Yeah, and Carter too!" So she broaches the subject of whether he like Carter, and then Gabe ends up telling her all that stuff from the after party TO HER FACE this time, and its like, WTF, are you going out of your way to smash this poor girl's heart into a million pieces? And then he has the nerve to be all "You both can't be mad at me!" when Taylor runs away to probably cry herself to sleep and Carter is all, "What the eff do you expect to happen!"

Anyways, it turns out when Lyndon was 3, she was kidnapped by L&O lady, who was an assisted care worker working in the neighborhood. So in the beginning, she and her friends break into some merry go round to have fun, and they all get picked up by the cops. But the cops were just putting a scare into them, and let them all go. Except Carter. Because 1) they called her mom and she didn't show up and 2) they checked her prints and found out she was a missing child.

So her fake mom is in the wind and they reunite her with her real family. Libby is a cop, which I found weird because she seems like this suburban housewife and totally un-cop like, and they're living in this fancy house. Also, fake mom knew Libby was a cop when she kidnapped Carter? Talk about effin balls, to kidnap the child a freaking cop! But I digress, I guess the fancy house is because Wesley got rich writing a book about the whole ordeal?

Like when they went home and all this press was there, called by his agent, I was thinking, "Well, I know who's getting shit canned!" but since there's this whole thing where Wesley has to pay back a 500k advance and his agent is all, "Problem solved, you can write a book about finding your daughter!" it looks like he has no choice.

So yeah, she also has a little brother, Grant, who jokes about being the "replacement" kid. But yeah, when Carter calls real mom a cold hearted bitch, Grant is all, "dude, you were kidnapped, and I was a preemie, she kinda flipped out!" Also, he's pretty clever, figuring out that Carter was letting everyone take a pic of her at her new job and basking in the publicity in the hope that fake mom would find her.

Which is another thing, she talks about real mom not trusting her, and its like, yes, she's her daughter, but of course she's going to keep an eye on her when she wants to borrow the car and go off alone to see her old friends. Its like obvious she has Stockholm Syndrome so I think worrying that she would just try to run off and find fake mom and run away seems like a legitimate worry!

Oh, but other drama, Libby was having an affair with another cop (who is Gabe's father! They're really ratcheting up the drama here, like were the writers thinking, how could we make things even more awkward for everyone on this show?), all set to leave Wesley... until her daughter came back. Whoops! But it was funny how she dumped him all, she had her family back, when Carter wants nothing to do with her.

Its all just a crazy messed up sitch. Because when Wesley warns her about Carter's scheme and tells her maybe she shouldn't be the one to arrest her, its like, he has a definite point there, its not doing any favors for her with respect to rekindling things with Carter if she's the one who arrests her "mother". But at the same time, fake mom messed up her life so bad by taking Carter, so needless to say, she's kinda pissed.

So Lori (sorry to all of a sudden use fake mom's name on the show, its just shorter than "fake mom" or "L&O lady') does finally show up to tell Carter she loves her, and mysteriously tell her there are things she should know. And again, that's what's brilliantly cruel about this show, because Carter and Lori have this seemingly great mother-daughter relationship. Like from what we've seen, Lori doesn't seem to be this bad person, other than having kidnapped Carter when she was a kid. Even in the beginning, its not like she kept Carter prisoner or locked her down like Libby, sorry, Lizzie (might as well start using their real names) did with Taylor. Indeed, Carter got found out because Lori gave her freedom to just hang with her friends. But at the same time, she didn't seem like the "trying to be her best friend instead of her mom" type (well, at least from what little interaction we've seen).

Its like Lori is a bad person for having kidnapped Carter, but at the same time, doesn't seem so bad. But who knows, maybe they'll muddy her up more as we find out more about her and their history.

But wow, I was just talking about Gabe shattering Taylor's heart into a million pieces, but what the eff, is she trying to kill Lizzie? I mean, Grant told her how fucked up the whole situation made their mom. And yeah, its messed up that Lizzie lied to her instead of fessing up in the first place that she did send Gabe's dad to watch her since that would be totally understandable since she just got her back after being KIDNAPPED FOR OVER A DECADE. But at the same time, being all, "Yeah, Lori was here, and I let her get away, and look at her, she was willing to risk jail just to see me to say she loved me and she's my real mom, not you, bitch! I'll never love you like I do her!" Like wow, I didn't think it was possible to be crueler than Gabe was, but she managed it!
