geebsDrove up to Charleston Thursday with the fam. Well, first we went to IHOP, and no less than 5 people loudly exclaimed they don't like pancakes when perusing the menu. Its like, you don't have to get pancakes at IHOP, but it is weird that so many people said they didn't want pancakes loud enough for other patrons to hear.
We took a bus tour of the city, which is better than walking around the city in this heat. The only thing I really recall about the whole thing is Charleston College (university?) has a bunch of cute chyx going there. Then, we took a boat trip to Fort Sumter after the bus tour- the bus had to pick up a few more people going to that tour, which included this couple with two cute daughters- one of whom looked like a brunette Taylor Swift and the other like a teenage Diane Kruger.
After we got back, the parentals wanted to go to One Hot Mama's but I was skeptical we'd be able to get a table just showing up around 730. And sure enough, there was an hour and a half wait. Luckily we were able to get a table right quick at Reilly's.
Owel, I also caught my mom's cold so I've been feeling bleh for the past day or so.
TV commentary:
Legend of Korra- It still weirds me out how many celebs lend their voices to this show. I mean, Cuddy, Kiernan Shipka, Henry Rollins, now Anne Heche? But first things first, Kai is a little more tolerable this ep. Not only is he showing himself to be a pretty skilled airbender, but he's also helping out his fellow prisoners.
I'm a little surprised they rescued them so quick. I mean, I'm glad they're moving fast, just surprised at all. But wow, Korra is just making enemies everywhere. Banished from Republic City, now she's an enemy of the Earth Kingdom?
But yeah, Zaheer and is gang break out combustion lady, and wastes no time infiltrating the air temple. Pretty slick, shaving his head and facial hair- some of the people watching didn't even recognize him.
We get to meet Lin's family- apparently she's from a city full of metal benders founded by Toph. Who is possibly still alive! She apparently left to wander the earth, and they haven't found her corpse yet, so she might be alive.
But yeah Lin has a sister, Su Ji (voiced by the aforementioned Anne Heche), and scandalously, she and Lin have different fathers! Shocking that Toph got around! Alas, they don't say who their fathers are.
Apparently, there's some bad blood between Lin and her sister. She's mean to her niece Opal (who was one of the people who's become an airbender) when she just wanted to get to know her. Korra is rightfully all WTF?! But Lin tells her to butt out, then has a nice cry when Korra leaves.
My theory? Su Ji talked about how she was this free spirit, traveling the world, while Lin was the loyal daughter, being a cop and all that. I think she's sad/pissed/jealous that Su Ji eventually settled down and had this big family. Meanwhile, Lin thought she would have that with Tenzin, and we know that happened there, and now she's just this lonely lady who has nothing but her work.
