TV commentary:

Game of Thrones- Lots of unexpected stuff! Well, a majority of it was things I knew would happen, but having actually not read the books, didn't know they would happen so soon. Ha, when Jon Snow said he was going after Mance, I thought it was going to be some crazy, long trek. I mean, I guess Mance was marching on the wall, but still, I thought it would take slightly longer for Jon to talk to him. The way it looked, he was practically a stone's throw away from the wall.

But yeah, I did not expect Stannis to just come in and break the invasion right quick.

Also, I did not expect Jojen Reed to die. Like he's still alive in the books, he didn't die at the scene where he did, he makes it to the tree-cave or whatever with the others. But apparently, whatever happens with Bran up there will be new ground (unless one of the books is coming out before next season), since that's how far his stuff has gone up to the last book.

In King's Landing, I knew Shae and Tywin were going to die, I just didn't realize we were up to that part. Its weird, because it seems TV Shae is a lot nicer to Tyrion and more genuine in her feelings than book Shae. Which is why for things to play out the way they did, TV Shae had to kinda do a 180. I mean, they started having her be insanely jealous of Sansa all of a sudden. And she did betray Tyrion at the trial, but I figured maybe she was coerced, or at the very least was like Bronn- she cared for Tyrion, but not enough to die for him. Sleeping with Tywin seemed OOC, as did immediately trying to stab him.

Like they had to kinda do something with her character so Tyrion killing her didn't make him seem like a monster, but it just seems like she had a personality transplant. But I guess they also cut the part out with the girl he married before not really being a whore, and Tywin made Jamie lie to Tyrion about it, and I guess also basically had her gang-raped in front of him, which seemed to be the impetus of his revenge in the books. Which, that story always seemed weird to me. Because when he was telling the story way back when, what Shae said seemed to make sense- of course it was a trick, because why would a rape victim all of a sudden just screw him in thanks for saving her?

But yeah, one cool change from the books was Brienne and Pod bumping into the Hound and Arya. That fight between Brienne and the Hound was pretty brutal. Actually more exciting than the Viper vs the Mountain. In the end, Arya leaves the Hound for dead and is headed for Braavos? Cool.

As for Dany, looks like she has to lock up her dragons because the people are upset over the on dragon just killing sheep and children and wot-not. And some of the older people want to be back in servitude, because that's all they know. Which, yes, this dealing with bureaucracy after winning is realistic, its just kinda boring to watch.
