Mar. 28th, 2014 09:44 amAh, I can't believe TWoP is shutting down! It feels like the end of an era! I will confess though, the number of recaps I read there had been dwindling. I read them more for the snark than the actual recaps. And their PLL/Ravenswood and OUAT recaps were great, a good blend of funny without being hateful. Other shows I watch that they recap though, it went from snark to downright hate. Its like, if you despise the show that much, why are you writing about it? People poking fun is fun to read, them being negative nancies is not. Other times, its because a recapper for a particular show is just kinda boring, like the recap was not interesting at all.
Owel, I guess there's always TV.com and After Ellen. Like Price Peterson does hilarious photo recaps for TVD and Teen Wolf. And LilyRoRoSparks does the same thing for OUAT. And Heather Hogan's PLL recaps are just as enjoyable as Jacob's from TWoP. Plus her Glee-caps aren't as hateful as the TWoP ones. And Lucy Hallowell does good recaps for the Fosters, which TWoP doesn't even cover.
And while not really recaps, Warming Glow (Uproxx TV) does amusing gifs for the latest eps of The Walking Dead, Justified, Archer, Community and Parks and Rec. So, there's still entertaining TV-related websites to read after seeing the eps out there. Its still sad that TWoP is dunzo though.
Hmm, I just realized a lot of recappers (at least the ones I enjoy) are either gay men or women. Is this sort of thing not a straight male activity?
TV commentary:
Vampire Diaries- So, we find out what Luke and Liv's deal is. Apparently, Travelers and Witches are supposed to be mortal enemies or something. They know the Travelers had plan for the last dopplegangers, so they were watching the MF gang, and as it turns out, another of their coven had the last Silas doppelganger magically shrouded. Which, it was pretty dumb of her to be doing the protection spell within view of the doorway to her home. Its like, yeah, vampires can't get in, but as Enzo showed, he could hurl something in and kill her.
Care-bear tries to save Stefan's doppelganger, Tom, by snapping Enzo's neck and running off with him. But Enzo catches up. Turns out he's not in it to get Damon back as his buddy, but because the Travelers promised him info on Maggie, some chick working for the Augustine Society who didn't know they were doing torture type stuff that he fell for.
So, Caroline goes back to Stefan and they share a moment where he tells her she's such a great person because she's not the kinda person who would actually just murder someone (except for that time when she killed that coven of witches). They chastely sleep next to each other in the Traveler camp, and seriously, I'm confused as to whether they really are just trying to show them as good friends, or if they are going to have them hook up.
Anyways, in the end, they here a commotion in the camp, and a bunch of Travelers immolate themselves. They do so to reach Bonnie, and the lot of them enter her until she's overwhelmed and collapse. And then a man comes out of her, possibly their leader Markos.
Meanwhile, after the witch Enzo killed tells Bonnie to tell Luke she failed, the siblings go to plan B, which is take out Elena. They fail, obviously, and to smooth the tension over, Jeremy says he'll help them if they stop trying to kill his sister-cousin. Also, he wants them to accept that he will be bringing Tyler and Matt along. Then he moves out of the Salvatore Manse to live with Tyler and Matt because its no place to live with all the crazy stuff going on.
Elena also says she's moving back to Whitmore, which, is that wise, given all the Traveler stuff?
Suits- So Louis has a heart attack, but he's okay. He ends up proposing to Sheila, who says yes. But then they run into the issue of him not wanting to leave NY and her not wanting to leave Boston. He argues that the P-S gang is his family- he's not the easiest guy to get along with, so he treasures those who he does manage to form a bond with. So, Sheila acquiesces. Unfortunately, that's when they find out sticking point number 2- he wants kids, and she doesn't want them. And they just can't agree, so its over.
Rachel tries to get P-S to pay for law school like they promised. Jessica refuses, since there's no contract of that anywhere, and she's hesitant to ask Louis because of the whole heart attack thing. Because at this point, if P-S won't pay for it, they're close enough that he'd try to pay for it himself then, which she wouldn't want. I was kinda annoyed when she went to him, she was speaking all vague. Like describing the situation to see how he would react rather than say she was talking about the tuition promise. Which, I suppose part of the reason was because he presented a sound argument, and thus she was worried that since it is a sound argument, Jessica would use it to refuse, which again, might prompt Louis to pay for her way out of guilt.
Part of her anger was the day she negotiated for that, she thought she was so smart, that she got one up on Louis. And I disagree with her sentiment that after she got out of the Office, Louis was laughing behind her back because he got one up on her because it was verbal and not written. I don't think he was thinking that at all! But anyways, she figures out a way to get P-S to pay for law school, using Harvey as the precedent.
As for Mike, he helps the number 2 of the a-hole investment banker they work for get out from under the guys thumb, since he sees them as kindred spirits, stuck in a position where they can't move further up. He's feeling particularly sad because after a talk with Harvey, there really is nothing he can do to change his situation. But! The guy he helped is so thankful he wants Mike to work for him, and not as a lawyer. He realizes what a genius Mike is at anything he puts his mind to, and makes him an offer.
OUAT: Wonderland- So, they did say the Series Finale is next week. I just hope it ends not on a cliffhanger. Or if they do, they manage to work out some sort of closure in the normal show. I did hear that since Ravenswood was canceled, they were going to wrap things up on PLL. I'm kinda torn between who I like the knave with, Alice or Anastasia. Like last week showed the great love between Will and Anastasia. But then this week demonstrated the chemistry Alice and Will have.
Anyways, this week, Jafar releases Will to try and get the staff back from Alice and Cyrus. After all, if he changes the rules of magic, then Anastasia can be resurrected. Will is successful, but then he has to save Alice from drowning. So they resolve to fight Jafar, and the Jabberwocky also decides to ally with them because she doesn't trust Jafar, telling them they should accept her help because if Jafar leaves, people won't be so fearful, and thus she would have no one to feed on and have to leave, which is killing two birds with one stone.
They manage to un-staff Amara. Unfortunately, Jafar figured out the genies were her sons. As such, as they duel, he figures out that its a distraction for Cyrus to steal the lamps, and the really way to hurt her is through her family. He ends up mortally wounding Cyrus, and again leverages the whole, "If we can change the rules of magic, the no resurrection rule is defunct!" saying they can bring back Cyrus. So she helps him cast the spell and we end before we can see the result.
