Justified- Some crazy stuff this ep! So we find out who Mrs. Ted Danson is. Apparently she's the widow of some big time gangster. Heh, she even outright tells Boyd that Wynn brought her in if she can figure out any reason to keep him alive. She doesn't give one, but Boyd shows he's no dumb hick and a dangerous man to try and fight, by killing Picker with an exploding cigarette pack. Pretty clever, with the whole saying this whole mess has made him nervous and he's taken up smoking again so they don't even give the cigarettes a second look. So, new deal, their partnership is dissolved, and he'll give Wynn half of the half of the drugs he does have. Wynn doesn't give an answer just yet, nor do we see Katherine's recommendation.
Anyways, Art's taking Alison to a safe house when they're attacked, and he ends up shot and in critical condition. They're sure its Darryl, but Darryl cooks up a plan to draw Raylan away so he can turn himself in at the Marshall's office because he doesn't want Raylan killing him. He's not wrong though, since Tim suggested he and Raylan find Darryl first, so he's right to be scared. But surprise, surprise, Kendal takes the fall for his uncle. Even though we didn't see the shooter, we know its a lie because his version of things doesn't fit with what we actually saw.
Raylan sees through it though, and threatens that Darryl will wish Raylan had killed him. The one thing that annoyed me though is the Crowes talking about how the Marshalls killed Danny and no one correcting them. They didn't do shit, Danny was a fucking moron who ended up stabbing himself in the head!
Oh, and turns out, Rachel is new interim chief. Apparently Chiefs put down recommendations on who should take over should something happen to them, and Rachel is his choice!
The Americans- Ha, awkward! Since Martha's been leaving those messages, the KGB hears them, and they task Elizabeth with defusing the sitch. So, she comes in the guise of "Jennifer" saying she's looking for her brother, and she and Martha get drunk complaining about Clark. It looks like Elizabeth manages to get Martha to not out Clark and tank his career, but she also finds out Clark is apparently an animal in the sack with Martha, which does make her self-conscious about why he is so ravenous with Martha and not her.
But given its Elizbaeth he comes home to and goes for comfort when he's got heavy stuff in his mind, its obvious which marriage is the real on to him.
And wow, talk about lots of super uncomfortable stuff. Elizabeth gets the files from the poor hapless seaman guy, but then she blows him off saying after the incident, she thinks she needs to take it slow and learn to love again. The guy knows he'll never see her again (wait, does he realize she was just using him?) and wishes her well, and she at least seems to feel bad for the guy.
But even more uncomfortable is when they trade the Mossad agent for the scientist. And the scientist is begging and crying to Phillip, calling him a heartless monster. It is interesting, the Mossad guy thinks Phillip is naive if they would trade him for the scientist, though he does say Phillip is a bigger fish, so maybe if the positions were reversed, maybe they would trade for him. But like I said, the deal goes through (the Israelis not only get their man back, 1500 Soviet Jews get to emigrate to Israel), though at least for Arkady, it was less for the scientist and more he didn't want Phillip out there in the cold, risking himself in an unsafe place holding this guy. So maybe there is loyalty there.
And look who thinks she has a crazy life! Its like, your parents are super spies, Paige, you ain't got shit going on.
Also, look who's making the big moves- Oleg figures enough about the Nina/Stan thing that he lures the feebs out while they're looking for scientist guy and manages to lure Stan out for a private convo (which, how did he know which car was following him?) He lies to Stan, claiming he figured out Stan has her under his thumb, and blackmails him to not reveal it to the rest of the residence.
