TV commentary:

The Originals- Heh, what the frick is wrong with Klaus? He's all upset over the Bekster, spending a month (since we had to time jump forward to show the potion worked and the crescent moon wolf curse was broken) painting and effing Genevieve rather than ruling the city. So with that stabilizing influence of a king missing, its been pretty chaotic. So Elijah steps up, which of course, in typical Klaus fashion, he sees a betrayal and begins working behind his back to undermine his new order.

In fact, with the stuff with his sister, he seems to be embracing his werewolf side more, saying they're more family oriented than vampires. He even makes overtures to Jackson, offering him and his kind moonlight rings in exchange for protecting Hayley and their unborn daughter and secretly allying with Klaus. Jackson does accept, and revealing why later to Oliver- he thinks that they can use the rings not just to stop from being forced to transform, but to be able to access their strength and speed permanently, putting them over the vamps and witches. Which, are they implying in werewolf form they are indeed stronger and faster than vamps?

But yeah, Elijah is trying to broker peace. Initially, he just invites the vamps, witches and humans to the table. But when Hayley hears about this, she's pissed that her kind have been left out. Now that they're back to normal, they want to come back from the bayou.

Additionally, since father Kieran is too far gone, a new human chick, Francesca (played by the Jabberwocky from OUAT: Wonderland) takes over as the leader of the human faction. She's a casino owning, drug kingpin (queenpin?). She got the blessing from the other humans to be their new rep, though Elijah says he'll deal with her now, but only until Cami's uncle gets better. Which, way to give her incentive to figure out some way to have something happen to him.

Eventually, Elijah, following Klaus' advice, throws a big party an invites everyone. We do find out why Diego hates the wolves- apparently his family was slaughtered by them, and he only survived because Marcel found him and turned him before he died. So, with all the bad blood going around, naturally there's a fight. It gets to the point where Elijah is about to kill Oliver and Jackson is about to kill Diego. And so Hayley is all, "Go ahead, kill him!" to both her men, who of course back down, not wanting to offend their lady love.

She gives an impassioned speech about how there's a lot of bad blood to go around, and either they just kill each other now, or they can try another way and broker peace. It works, and a treaty is signed by Elijah, Diego, Genevieve, Francesca, and Hayley. Elijah makes Klaus sign it later. Which, since it was signed in their mixed blood, is their a magical aspect to this contract like bad things happen if its broken, or is that just ceremony?

While all this is going on Marcel is biding his time, trying to find a way to get back on top. He makes overtures to Thierry, eventually winning him over. He also ends up banging Cami after setting up a protection spell in the church attic for father Kiernan to stay in so he doesn't end up hurting anyone. But Genevieve sees them sleeping together, and she's sure to tell Klaus since she's totes jealous of Cami- I mean, they revealed in the flashbacks that she's always had a crush on Klaus. Plus, the implication is that it wasn't just pent up feelings that drove Marcel and Cami together, but some magic worked by Genevieve.

And as for Davina, hilariously, has this mean girl storyline going, where Monique is totally nasty to her, like they're on an ep of PLL/GG. Like Oliver puts the moves on her and is all, "What's the name of the girl I'm about to ask to dance?" and before Davina can answer, Monique struts up and is all, "Monique!" and steals him away. Which, fuck Oliver, if he did like her, what's with him not sticking up for her all, "Excuse me bitch, I was talking to this girl here!" And seriously, Davina is letting that petty shit get to her? Its not like she actually got Oliver's attention anyways, Davina chose to let it get to her and walk away. So I suppose Oliver could've been just confused that she just walked off.

But I digress Davina is afraid to do magic, after the ancestors tortured her on the other side for misusing her magic. But Marcel is worried that she's vulnerable as hell if she doesn't do magic, so he convinces Josh to convince her to do magic to protect herself. Josh believes Marcel just wants her to do magic again so he can get her as an ally to use against the other factions. Which there is definitely truth to that, but I think Marcel does care about her too. But yeah, Josh's words do the trick, and Davina has her power back, much to the chagrin of Monique.

In any case, I love this faction stuff and the power struggle in the city. Truthfully, that's my favorite part of vampire stories. That not only do they have a governing secret society, but there's a human faction that tolerates them, and the witches and werewolves are similarly organized. I just like the whole shadow politics of it all.
