TV commentary:

Glee- The Finn tribute ep. Most notable absent are Quinn and Brittany, Quinn especially, given their former relationship. But it seems as if Quinn is never coming back on this show again, because Ryan Murphy hates her. I mean, his sitcom New Normal, which I never watched, but is apparently about him and his partner, since the one character is the producer of a show called "Sing" (obviously that world's version of Glee), he's always dumping on the Quinn character of that show. And its one thing to hear rumors about people in TV hating each other behind the scenes, but if you make a TV show about your life, and are totally mean to an obvious analog to someone in your life, I think that's a pretty clear sign you hate them. But I digress, on to the ep.

I thought it was touching. Obviously, the adults (Carole, Burt, Sue, Bieste, Will and Emma) do most of the heavy lifting, with pretty poignant performances. Obviously, a lot of sad stuff which I won't recap, because it can be summed up as these people feel very heartbroken and crushed by the tragic and sudden death of a son/brother/friend/ex-boyfriend. Like I didn't really think he was this great leader and hero the show tried to make him out to be, but he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. FYI, they don't actually say how Finn died on the show, and it actually starts off three weeks after his funeral.

Onto the performances:

We start off with the old and new new directions doing Seasons of Love on the stage in the spotlights just like in Rent:

As an aside, for some reason, when I watch this on my TV, the box is always on some setting where its doing whatever the blind equivalent of closed captioning is, where there's a narrator describing what's going on. Like when it happened last week, I thought they were doing a bit. Same for this week, when a narrator came on and started saying, "New directions stands on the stage, a spotlight comes on", I forgot I had the same issue last week and again thought they were going for something weird with the narration. But then I remembered, "Oh, I forgot I have to press that button on my remote to switch that stuff off".

Schue says anyone who wants to sing their feelings can, and they do. Mercedes does I'll Stand By You, since she remembered Finn singing it:

Artie and Sam do Fire and Rain:

Santana does If I Die Young:

But she breaks down and is unable to finish. Of course its weird because the way they cut down the song for the show, she was practically at the end chorus anyways, so there wasn't that much more of the song left.

Puck is also taking it hard, and does No Surrender:

And by the end Rachel has recovered enough to do Make You Feel My Love:

Actually, there is one thing I will recap. So Kurt gets Finn's football jacket, and we see him sniff it, which is a nice little callback to the first season, when he and Finn were talking about how Kurt would just lie in his parent's bedroom to try and remember how his mother smelled back when she was still alive, and was telling himself it was stupid and Finn reassured him that it was not. Kurt's just doing the same thing here with Finn. When Puck sees it, he wants it, because he wants a piece of his best friend, his compass. Kurt refuses, saying its his, but later gives it to Santana to cheer her up after her breakdown. And when she went to lie down in the nurse's office to recover, someone took that jacket. They think its Puck at first, but we find out at the end it's Mr. Schue.

Hopefully he's going to give that back after he's grieved (and before Kurt and Santana go back to NY!), because its not cool stealing the jacket like that. Also, kinda effed up that he was all, "If you have that jacket, you should return it to Kurt!" to Puck, if he knew Puck didn't have it!
