Sep. 17th, 2013 09:41 amSo with the new season of Glee starting up next week, they're starting to leak the songs. The first two eps of the season will be all Beatles, followed by a tribute ep to Cory Monteith before going on break for the baseball playoffs. But the first two songs making their rounds are "All You Need Is Love" and "Yesterday".
Yesterday- Its a really sad and poignant version. Which is interesting/weird because given Cory's death a couple months ago, one might think Lea is singing it about him, and the melancholy seems appropriate. Only this was recorded before he died. Ominous!
All You Need is Love- I think this is Blaine singing this? It already gets points for keeping the "She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah" line (well, change to he in this version) at the end. I was kinda pissed that the version off the "Across the Universe" soundtrack did not, even though the line was in the movie! That was like my favorite part of the song in the movie, Jude is about to leave the rooftop performance, disappointed that Lucy isn't there, but then his friends point out to the rooftop across the street where she's standing as they sing the line. And the fact that the line is at the end of the actual original song makes it even more annoying that the line didn't make it into the soundtrack version. It does not make cents!!
Also, given the promo pics with Rachel, Santana, and whoever Demi Lovato is playing in band/majorette uniforms, I'm wondering if they join some weird NYADA club, or if the outfits are just for some Beatles number.
