The Fosters- Are you kidding me with this ep and the volley of emotional gut punches?! Okay, I was wrong, Stef was the one who got shot, and Mike shoots and kills Ana's druggie bf. Jesus is "Good!", but Mike does do good by being all, "Even if he was a bad man, killing people is never cool." Too bad he trashes that piece of good by making his coffee Irish after telling his Captain he was getting his drinking under control. Brandon figures out his dad got drunk at the hospital and is through with him. That, at least seems to get his ass to go to AA.
Anyways, with them making a big deal about getting Stef and Mike's statements separately, it seemed like they were gearing up for a twist. It did seem like Stef was covering up something. At first, I was worried Mike was drunk and accidentally shot Stef himself. But nope, Ana's bf shoots Stef, is shocked by what he did and drops his gun, which discharged another round. So at that point Mike thinks the guy is like gunning at them, quickly runs through the door and puts him down- I don't even think he realized the guy was unarmed, and Stef was too out of it to tell him. But, Ana was apparently at the house and fled, and had left Stef dying there to meet Jesus, and didn't even let on to him she knew any of this happened when she got to the shelter.
So, not a clean shoot, but I think justifiable- Stef was indeed shot by the guy, and as far as he knew the guy was still shooting. It was spur of the moment, and though as an officer of the law he should be more aware, he also had precious seconds to make a decision. Hesitation could've meant his and Stef's deaths. I can see an argument for being him suspended or even fired. But its not manslaughter or murder or anything. Its not like he killed some innocent guy who was minding his own business. The guy was unarmed AT THAT SECOND. And before that he was shooting at cops.
But yeah, flashbacks galore- when Stef and Lena first met, which, are you kidding me with Lena's flashback hair? Its friggin hot! Stef first meeting Jesus and Mariana. Also, telling Mike they need to get a divorce because it wasn't fair to him because she realized she was gay. And then going to Lena, who was all, she can't be the other woman, she doesn't wanna be a fling, and Stef saying she told almost everyone she's a lesbian and she wants to be with her? If one good thing came out of the shooting, Stef decides to propose to Lena.
Aw, I knew from the previews Brandon was pissed, and luckily Callie put a stop to that shit real quick. But looks like Lena was kinda mad too. That whole, "I'm trying to forgive them" to unconscious Stef was heartbreaking. She manages to understand why Mariana would seek out Ana, and reassures her that she still loves her. Which was another heartbreaking scene, when the twins were all, "what if they don't us anymore?"
Or when Jude was asking Callie if Stef will be okay, and Callie was all, "Yes, because this family is lucky!" It was kinda depressing because I kinda took it like all the families she and Jude have seen were shit, and for the first time they find an amazingly perfect family, that bad stuff can't happen to them... shouldn't happen to them.
Speaking of, we find out what happened to their parents (heh, and they manage to excuse Jude's absence in the past couple of eps as being over at Connor's house) Their dad got drunk, and got into a terrible car accident that killed their mother, and some other people, so he got sent up for manslaughter, and having no other relatives, they were sent into foster care.
But it looks like they're heading for Brallie. Which is kinda effed up, given the whole Liam thing. And what the shit, Wyatt?! He sees there's something between Callie and Brandon, and says Callie is just using him b/c she thinks she can't be with Brandon. Unfortunately, since he doesn't know about the whole Liam thing, he's encouraging Callie to go for it. And she does! Only just before she can, Talya show up. That's a bullet dodged! But yeah, isn't she thinking how that could eff up her case against Liam if they found out she's romancing another foster brother? And its not just about her, if this case gets effed up, there's his current foster sister who he was also possibly raping to worry about.
Dammit though, if they fricking end next week's season finale on a cliffhanger where Jude and Callie might be taken away, I'll be pissed. But yeah, that's the main reason Brallie is ill advised. No, its not incest. Hell, they've only known each other for a few weeks, so its not like they even spent time as brother and sister. Actually, if they were step-siblings or adoptive siblings, at least there wouldn't be legal standing to immediately Callie and Jude away. Incest laws vary from state to state I think and I'm not even sure if step/adoptive relations fall under that. But yeah, Callie and Jude are just foster children. If that shit happens, child services could run up and just take em out of there. Its like Wyatt is telling Callie should do what makes her happy- she can have Brandon, or she can have this amazing family, but she can't have both. I think she should go for the latter.
