Saw Man of Steel with the usual suspects. Including [livejournal.com profile] phatjoe, whom I didn't know was coming, and with all the weight loss, [livejournal.com profile] clevemire and I totally didn't recognize him. Like we were walking up the escalator, and some dude looks down at us and say something. Since we didn't recognize him, we thought he was talking to someone else. But then when we get to the next landing and up the second escalator, we realize its him.

One of the trailers in front of the movie was for "Gravity", which as far as I can tell is about Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as astronauts, and as they're out on a space walk, their shuttle is destroyed and they're basically stuck in a debris field. I'm guessing they're pretty much effed, so who the hell wants to see a movie about that? Its like the movie with the people stuck out in the middle of the ocean with sharks, or the one with the guy buried alive. Spoiler alert, they all die. I suppose maybe someone will save them, but I wanna say its like those other movies because its more artsy if they don't make it. Which, why the eff would I want to see a movie where a person is in this hopeless situation and they just die?!

On to the movie, it was okay. There were some ridiculous plot decisions, but at the very least, the superhuman combat was bad-ass. Like Faora just schooling a bunch of army guys in the blink of an eye was pretty awesome. She kinda moved like Wesker in RE5. Also, lots of Canadian actors in this. I was amused because the first scene they show with Richard Schiff as Dr Emil, he's talking to Gaeta as a random tech, who of course played Dr Emil in Smallville. But yeah with all the Canadians in it, you could go through the list of actors in the movie, and a good portion of the lesser named actors guest starred on Smallville at one point or another. Though only Helo, Gaeta and Flashpoint sniper guy sprung are ones I actually remember actually being on the show. But lets not forget Amy Adams was also a Kryptofreak on the show back before she hit it big.

But yeah, onto dumb plot things, I get that they were trying to show how committed Clark had to be to hiding his powers, but Jonathan Kent getting swallowed up by a tornado saving the dog while Clark had to stand and watch helplessly because there were too many witnesses was dumb.

Krypton was interesting, but why the hell does Jor-El fly a dragon when everyone uses spaceships?! Owel, like I said, unlike the previous Superman movie, there's actually a lot of action in the latter half of this one, and shit gets absolutely wrecked. Honestly, the death toll is easily in the hundreds of thousands.
