HIMYM- Finally! And good thing too, because the ep was taking a turn that started to piss me off. One thing I was glad for this week were scenes of Barney and Robin being good together. Last week annoyed me, because they had Ted there for Robin while Barney was handling her dad. I mean, there's nothing wrong with him being a good friend to her, but that whole thing was set up like he's the one for her. When we know they don't end up together!
So I was kinda amused when they acted like that didn't happen at first in this ep, with Barney and Robin at the restaurant messing with their "nemeses". But then Ted brings last week up with Lily when he reveals he's moving to Chicago, and then Lily reveals the reason Robin couldn't find it was because she had already dug it up when Ted was about to marry Stella, but was too drunk to remember. Lily thinks Robin took it to Japan and lost it there, but Ted realizes he had the locket in his desk the whole time. So it really pissed me off when he was all, "this is a sign!" because again, we know she's not the one, and meets the mother after the wedding, so why drag this g-d triangle out.
And since it was at the 20 minute mark at this point, and it was obvious there was no way this ep would have the wedding because there wasn't enough time left, I was worried we were going to end on some cliffhanger where Ted gives the necklace to Robin as the "best wedding present evar!" and she reconsiders choosing Barney over him. And we spend all summer wondering, "Will Robin get with Ted instead!?" when they've established she wont'. Like I wouldn't put it past the show to dick us around even longer than it already has.
So color me surprised that they actually revealed the mother! Like I though when they showed the boots and umbrella and guitar, that's all were going to see. But nope, the mother is played by Cristin Milioti, who I remember as the chick in that ep of 30 Rock, "TGS Hates Women". Of course, the show could still be dicking us around, and even though she has the umbrella, maybe they'll pull off some BS and she isn't the mother. Like she borrowed the umbrella from the real mother and they're both in the band and she's just returning it to her at the wedding. But hopefully she really is the mother.
Marshall being offered the judge position was a surprise though. Of course, we know Marshall and Lily are together in the future, so obviously him having to stay and her going to Italy will work out.
Defiance- So Datak's son is apparently a DJ? I did see the ambassador lady being in on the robbery, though I didn't see her people being fine with her treachery and just pretending to arrest her. That's not good, because now Amanda is on her shit list.
I'm not sure Irisa letting the guy go was a good idea either. I mean, I'm not condoning her just murdering some guy tied to a chair, even if he did torture her. And I can understand the whole letting him live is a fate worse than death, because now he'll have to live as a nobody. But how can she be sure he won't do something to try and get her to fulfill whatever prophecy he has in mind for her now that he knows where she is.
But hey, look at Tommy getting some from Irisa (which, nice side boob there!)
