Nikita- While I did like Michael referencing the fact that they indeed were getting things done by themselves before they took back Division, it wasn't exactly "the six of them in a safehouse". It was the five of them, and Sonya and Birkhoff having a thing and her occasionally helping them.
But yeah, it was weird Michael had to come around to that way of thinking, because exactly, they had been doing things on their own for months! Ryan's plan made perfect sense, Division was already scuttled. The best thing to do was go all the way, so the government didn't know who they had to hunt down and who was dead. And again, they found black boxes on their own, without Division resources for the first two seasons! They can do it again.
And while I understand Birkhoff and Sonya not wanting Ryan to fall on his sword, he has to- they need someone to sell the story, and regardless of him wanting to make up for his mistakes, he makes the most sense. He has rapport with the President, and besides, he was the only non-Division guy in there? Given the SEAL contingency plan, its obvious the government doesn't trust them, and thinks they're a bunch of thugs. So they're more likely to listen to the guy they put in charge than anyone else.
In any case, I did like Alex sorta pulling a Punisher this ep. Well, sort of. I guess because she's a good guy, and while this is a dark show, its not that dark, but not snapping that one guard's neck didn't make sense. Particularly since it seemed she already killed more than a few guys causing havoc throughout the city. And then wasn't her plan for the girls to flee when "they heard shots"? But then when she and Nikki attacked those guards, they didn't actually shoot at them! They charged into the thick of them instead of ambushing a few of them and shooting them first!
