TV commentary:
Dexter- This episode is hilarious! Particularly Dexter getting into an argument with the one hitman guy not wanting to go halvsies on killing Isaak. Of course he coulda talked with the guy, and be all, he doesn't want the money, so they could kill him together (hey, have they seen Isaak? The more people on him, the better!), and the guy could get all the money, and Dexter would be rid of him. Win-win! But Isaak calling the police on the dead body, and them talking about all that stuff in front of everyone was pretty funny. We do find out what his relationship with Victor was- Victor was his "soulmate". Ha, the reveal was kinda hilarious, where Dex follows Isaak into a bar and its only after a few minutes of conversation that he realizes, "This is a gay bar!" And at first Dex thinks its just because Isaak thinks the cops won't follow him in there, but Isaak is all, "Nope, I'm gay!" I also like how if they didn't have the whole Victor thing between them, he and Isaak might've been friends. I mean, the way Dex talks, it sounds like he would let Isaak go if he promised to stop trying to kill him and just ran away.
But the Dex-Deb-Hannah stuff was delicious. Obviously Dex doesn't want to kill Hannah, but Deb wants her dead. Dex acts like he's doing Deb a favor by not killing Hannah because it will lead her down a dark road. And after some fatherly advice to Astor, Deb believes it, which means she's incredibly pissed when she finds out the truth. Also, what does it mean to be an a-hole? Like Deb is all, "I'm the biggest effin a-hole on the planet!". But isn't Dex the a-hole for lying to her? I figured one is an a-hole for doing dickish things, not for being a chump.
But heh, how awkward was that convo when he explains about Astor and Cody and Harrison to Hannah? Particularly when she's all, "I'd love to meet them some time!" Meanwhile, Dex is thinking, "Yeah, that will go over well with Deb!" Also, she lets the Jamie thing slide pretty quick. His "nanny"? Who just happens to be a hot young lady prancing around in a little bikini? Actually, I'm kinda curious how that would look to a stranger. Middle aged white guy with three kids, and a college age Latina girl? Like people wouldn't think he was effin her?
The Dex and Hannah stuff is kinda cute, until you realize they're both killers. She just wants a family, and kids. And even more awesome, it was one thing if Dex was just effin Hannah because she's hot, but Deb finding out Dex has feelings for Hannah? That brings up all the "Deb thinking she's in love with Dex" stuff she totally forgot about after finding out he was a killer. Like she was all, "Is it because she's a serial killer?", as if killing is something that gets his rocks off. (Though I guess between Hannah and Lumen, I can't fault Deb for wondering that?) Its made even more funny because her tone is all, "If I killed people, would you love me in that way?"
And if that conversation wasn't awkward enough, she drops the bomb that she went to the church to tell him she's in love with him! And then after she confesses how effed up she feels that she's not only in love with her stepbrother, but her stepbrother who's a serial killer. And all Dex can say to that is "Um, I'm sorry?" In his defense, what the eff do you say in that situation? I also find it hilarious that ghost Harry was all, "Huh, she's in love with you? That does make a bunch of sense..."
But phenomenal acting job by Jennifer Carpenter here. I mean, she totally captured the whole, "Oh crap, I just laid it all out in the open there and now I'm freaking out because I can't take it back" attitude well. Not that she didn't try to play it off with her usual self deprecation and trying to act like its not the case anymore. Yet, there was a part of her that seemed hopeful Dex might return her feelings, that he would choose her over Hannah.
Anyways, also finding out the truth? Laguerta. Well, she's not 100% sure, but after finding Dex's old slip, that he abandoned right as the Bay Harbor Butcher stuff was first discovered, the wheels start turning in her head.
But looks like Dex isn't the only one having issues. Strip club guy basically strong arms Quinn back into being a dirty cop, using a recording of their conversation when he tried to get Nadia's freedom for stealing Isaak's blood sample.
I'm calling it now though- Deb will end up killing Hannah. It won't be Isaak, to hurt Dex the way Dex hurt him by killing his love, because that would be just a rehash of the Trinity/Rita stuff. And it won't be Dex, in revenge for her doing something against Deb or whoever, because that would be just like the Lila story. I mean, Dex's conversation with Isaak is totally foreshadowing Hannah dying- Isaak explains how Dex should understand why he won't give up his vendetta, after all, he killed the guy who killed his wife. Dex tries to explain Rita was innocent, while Victor was a killer. Since Isaak is all, "And if she was a killer?" I mean, it wouldn't be dramatic if Issak kills Hannah and Dex kills Isaak. It wouldn't be a psychological blow unless its someone he can't easily kill, like Deb.
Although the end did also seem to plant the seeds of something happening between Dex and Deb, what with Isaak talking about social stigmas and the heart wants what the heart wants. Gee, like wanting your step-sibling? Part of me thinks maybe Deb would die, but there's the whole incest mess, plus Laguerta possibly figuring out Dexter's secret, which I'm assuming they'll both fully deal with next season, unless things move way fast. And again, the latter is more dramatic if Deb is alive, because both their careers are threatened now. I mean, at this point Laguerta surely has to believe that Deb was covering up for Dex.
