TV commentary:

Sons of Anarchy- That was a disturbing ep! So the Sheriff's wife dies. (Wait, is he sheriff? The article in that paper said he was, but I thought Charming PD got taken over by another LEO?) Needless to say, he's pissed. Jax is trying to calm him down, but how long til he sees the scratch on Tig's neck and think he's the one who attacked his wife? I just realized, they can't really say, "Oh no, this scratch is from a totally different chick, one that we actually killed!"

But yeah, he gets scratched when the gang goes after that one guard. As a gesture of good will, Pope gave the address to them. The guy's wife wasn't supposed to be home, but she was, and Tig ends up executing her in front of the guard. Which is kinda effed up, because at least the audience can rationalize the guard's death as the guy being a corrupt a-hole, but what did his wife do? Then they beat him to death with a snow globe.

Anyways, the guard's address was given to show the Sons that Pope is supposedly on the up and up- he wants them to carry an extra 30 Kilos of coke (which he says isn't really a big deal for the Sons, they're hauling so much already that the extra 30 won't increase the charges) for a lot of money. Jax goes for it, and he barely gets it to pass- the new guys and Juice (who's being suckered by Clay- Clay is actually all right, but he's playing crippled to get sympathy from Juice) vote with Clay against, but everyone else is for. People were complaining why Jax would deal with this guy, when it was on his orders that Opie got killed. (I mean, he didn't say who specifically, just one of the Sons, but it was the guard who chose Opie) I figure they're showing Jax is trying to be pragmatic. Yes, he loved Opie like a brother, but warring with Pope won't do a thing but get them and all their loved ones killed. We also learn that Pope has a contingency plan upon his death, he has a bunch of assassins on retainer who will go after his killer, with the one who gets his actual killer getting $5 million. Which has me thinking, I don't think they'd mention it if it wasn't going to come into play eventually. Perhaps someone in the Sons will end up offing him? People also complained why Tig would vote to join up with Pope, given what he did to his daughter, but he doesn't have much of a choice, or did they forget that Jax said Tig must always back him?

Anyways, the measure passes, and the Cartel is fine with giving them more coke, and Jax gets the Mayans, Niners, and Triad in line. Its a little silly though that Jax is thinking its only temporary, they're doing the deal because it suits them, and they can get out later. But can they really get out later, this is pulling them in deeper and deeper. Also, its interesting they're setting up Pope to be another guiding figure along with Nero. They seem to represent the two paths Jax can take. Pope embraced the drug trade (he says its always been his most lucrative business) and become a hugely successful businessman, whereas Nero got out of the drug biz, and was making a decent living running a much safer escort service. He definitely seems to be learning more from than than he did from Clay.

Speaking of Nero, his gal Carla holds Gemma at gun point, and calls Nero over and tries to make them frak. But when Gemma starts freaking out (prolly because of her rape all those seasons ago), Nero doesn't go through with it and challenges Carla, But, she says she just wanted to see them eff while she goes out, and then shoots herself in the head. We find out that this chick is Nero's crazy half sister who went off her meds.

Gemma can't get a hold of Unser, so she's forced to ask Clay to clean up the mess. Doesn't seem to smart, like are they sure he got rid of the body? He could be holding it to use against Nero sooner or later! When Gemma finally gets a hold of Unser, who lets her have it saying he's tired of being jerked around. He also gives her advice, because he's not the only one she has on hand to "do things for her". He lets her know that's all those people are, people who do things for her. She no longer has any friends or family and she's going to end up alone. Which makes her all sad and ripe pickings for Joel Mchale when she's drowning her sorrows at the bar. No idea what his deal is.

Also, Tara gets a job volunteering at the prison, which was actually just a ruse to get close to Otto and try to get him to recant. He's all no way (and tries to illicit a blowjob from her) People were again complaining that they lawyer chick couldn't talk to him because of her association with the club. But this prison hires the wife of a known gang member? I dunno, how common knowledge is that? Obviously, we the audience know, but they got married in secret, and even though the rest of the club eventually found out, its not like they made an announcement in the frickin paper. I'm sure there are high ups in Law Enforcement who know all the connections, and know Tara's relationship with Jax, but its not like they distribute that fact to everyone in law enforcement. Like if someone working in that prison is from Charming, they might know who she is, but otherwise, she's just some random doc to them. Lawyer lady is always around, and the prison staff has prolly seen her with the Sons, so the association is more obvious.

Oh, and Clay is indeed the mastermind of the attacks, and smacks the new guys around for the colossal fuck up of killing the Sheriff's wife.
