TV commentary:

Vampire Diaries- Crazy, crazy developments this ep. So wait, Caroline didn't put two and two together last week and realize Alaric killed her dad?! I find that highly unlikely. And ah, Finn didn't not care about Sage, he was just unaware she was still around, being in a coffin for nearly half a century. So looks like he's switching to team Klaus to be with Sage? Though he's not too pleased about her turning other people all these years.

But he doesn't have too much time to dwell on that, as Stefan, Elena, and Matt managed to ambush and kill Finn. (Lucky for his siblings, Bonnie undid the spell right at that very moment, having done so under duress since Kol was watching Jeremy, ready to kill him if she didn't) Needless to say Sage is friggin pissed. But, she doesn't have time to exact her revenge, because apparently permanently killing an original wipes out their bloodline. So now the gang has a new problem.

Caroline was turned by Damon, and he and Stefan were turned by Katherine who was turned by Rose. So at first they're hoping it wasn't Klaus who turned Rose. But then they remember Klaus did turn Tyler. So if they kill Klaus they kill Tyler.

Anyways, during all this, Damon was captured and tortured by the Bekster. After the gang learns this (but before they found out about killing the original wiping out everyone they turned), Elena wants to save him, but Stefan knows Damon would want him to kill Klaus. Which is true. Elena rightfully says Damon would say eff the plan and go to rescue Stefan if the sitch was reversed. Stefan's none to pleased with hearing that. Its particularly amusing, because Damon is always the one who says he'll do what needs to be done (unless it puts Stefan or Elena's lives at risk) so him choosing to do "whatever it takes" and having Elena chastising him for it has to sting.

So, after killing Finn, seeing Sage die because of it, and after Bonnie informed them she unlinked them so Klaus and the other Mikaelsons are still alive, he decides to trade the stakes for Damon. Well, 8 of the 11 they have left. Since Klaus and Beks just bled all the vervain out of Damon, Klaus susses out that there are more than the 8 Stefan is giving. So there's more fronting by the boys, when Rebekah gets tired of it all, and frees Damon as a sign of good faith.

Klaus isn't pleased about her weakness, and since they're not linked, he declares his intention to leave with Elena once the stakes are gone, so he can make a new hybrid family, because they'll be more loyal than his actual family.

In the end, Stefan and Elena have a talk where he tries to get her to admit she loves Damon, and he's fine with it, as long as she's honest and upfront about it. But she's all, she doesn't know.

Speaking of Damon, he goes to Alaric to get one of the last stakes. Unfortunately its gone, because apparently Alaric entered one of his fugue stakes and did something with it. (Or at least that's their theory, since Alaric is the only one who knew where it was)
