Gossip Girl- So despite last week's previews, my expectations were quite low for this ep, because I knew it was deceptive BS. I mean, Blair asking Dan if he was going to make a move? Of course she wasn't referring to herself! I had a feeling what was going to go down, and I was kinda of right. Blair was trying to hook Serena and Dan back up, and she was referring to Serena in that moment. But! That moment actually did end up being what people were hoping it did (more on that later).
Between that, and the confirmation that Dan did send that video (which is total BS!), and learning that leaked scene from 5x19 or 5x20 where Dan kisses Blair on the steps of the MET is supposedly a dream sequence, I was expecting this ep was going to be more teasing and frustration.
But wow, was this episode pleasantly surprising! So Georgina as Gossip Girl blackmails Dan into convincing Blair to Nate's party. (at first because she wanted all the players there when she outed Dan as the video sender, but after finding out about the pre-nup, she wanted to get Blair to cheat on Louis with Dan to send her family into financial ruin) Cut to the aforementioned "Are you going to make your move?" scene, wherein Blair gushes about how great and wonderful and amazing Dan is, so how could Serena not want him?
"GG" texts Dan to kiss Blair in that moment, but if he is going to put the moves on Blair, its not because Gossip Girl told him to. He tells GG to basically fuck off, and blunders upon Georgina (who's phone is so loud that someone can hear them getting texts from another room where there's a loud party going on?!) She claims to be working for GG, and threatens Dan with releasing the video if he doesn't kiss Blair. Dan fires back saying if she does, he'll out her as being a minion of Gossip Girl (which thinking about it now, doesn't seem equitable, so what if people find out Georgina is associated with GG, I don't think that would hurt Georgina as much as Blair finding out he sent in the video would hurt Dan!).
Blair happens upon them, wherein Georgina makes her escape. Dan confronts Blair on why she's trying so hard to get him back with Serena, and she says its because she wants Dan to be happy. Finally, she asks Dan what will make him happy. Emboldened by her question, he shows her... by kissing her! And this time she kisses him back. Georgina opens the door and snaps a pic. And Serena is standing right there as well.
And wow, is Serena so delusional that she thinks Blair is only interested in Dan because of some sort of twisted competition, that she's only after Dan because Serena is interested in him? If she really knew her two closest friends, she'd realize that its actually kinda obvious.
Anyways, Dan learns about the pre-nup from Georgina, which is obstacle one, because any indiscretion on Blair's part will ruin her family financially. He confronts Blair, wherein obstacle two pops up- Serena is pretty hurt by all this, so Blair can't do that to Serena.
Ha, so after Georgina shows the pic of Dan and Blair kissing to Chuck, he goes and bangs Dan's agent Alessandra. Now is it just out of convenience because she hit on him, or because Chuck wants to use her to get to Dan?
Ah, and we finally learn what's up with Charlie and Ivy (who apparently has been hiding out with CeCe, who's dying?). They shared an acting class, which is how she got on Carol's radar. But wait, so did Nate not know Lola's name was Charlotte Rhodes this whole time? Didn't he do research on her? When he talked to her bosses, did he just refer to her as Lola? When he talked to Lily about her, did Lily not mention, "Oh, BTW, interesting piece of trivia, her name is Charlotte Rhodes also!"
So Nate tells real Charlotte that Ivy's "Charlotte Rhodes", but her mother made her grow up as Ivy so people wouldn't know she was rich-ass. Which has me wondering, does Charlotte not know she has rich relatives in NY then?! I'm still skeptical that despite all the cater-waitering she did, she was totally unaware of the existence of Charlie Rhodes, even though I swear one of the parties she cater-waited was supposedly Ivy's debut.
And, oh please, Blair's watchdog assigned to her is secretly in love with Louis? That's convenient!
