So yeah, I just accidentally beat the game. Good thing I found all the artifacts in "the real world" first. But yeah, I didn't know doing the start of sequence 8 would cause a chain of events that lead to the end! I just started the mission in the Papal area because I was wanting to get the flags and treasure there and didn't want to worry about accidentally triggering it in my search to find them. (Annoyingly enough, turns out one of the flags I was searching for wasn't actually there, it was just outside, reachable by gondola without having to go through the restricted area. But I have gotten all the flags and treasures in Rome now) Actually, I think I might have been able to "pause" things right after beating Cesare to where the Apple of Eden was, but before I actually grabbed it. But nope, I picked the egg up, and was basically stuck on that path to the endgame.
I'll have to say, I was a little disappointed with how things ended for the Ezio part. Its like the whole thing went on fast forward. I get the apple is supposed to be a powerful artifact, but its like earlier in the game, you hear Cesare is doing this or that, and its a whole affair of sneaking around and killing select people and wot not. But here, you basically just stomp over to where he's meeting peeps and use the apple.
Which was annoying as hell, because I wanted to kill these people the old fashioned way, with my blades, not some super powerful artifact!
And in the end, where there actually two factions fighting each other? I couldn't tell the difference, so I just butchered everyone I came across. Thankfully, the final battle with Cesare was all normal, no weird apple, just good old fashioned combat. Man, that dagger of Brutus is monstrous. I basically sawed through Cesare's allies whenever they'd show up, and the animations for it are pretty brutal!
But then the real world stuff pissed me off. These whatever things force you to kill Lucy?! bbv('This is total BS!') Man, was I pissed at that!
Owel, I was worried after I beat it, it was over, but thankfully it dumped me back. I still had a few Courtesan and Thief missions left to do. And I just saw the "additional memories" from the DNA menu actually will tell you how many flags you got/how many there are in the Romulus lair. And frickin' frick, I think I have to redo all but one to get all the flags!
