Fringe- So Peter's back! And as he quickly learns, no one remembers him. I think they've intimated it in previous eps this season, but I think this is the first time we get confirmation- things happened like they did before, original Peter dies, Walter travels to the other world to grab Peter and save him. But when they came back, they fell through the ice and Peter drowned, because the Observer didn't save him this time. Indeed, in this new world, the gang doesn't even know what an Observer is!
Its interesting that despite his earnestness, he's not winning anyone over. Walter does concede Peter is his son. But, the intense guilt Walter is feeling for effing up the two worlds makes him want to punish himself. So, he doesn't want to believe in Peter, because he doesn't feel he deserves to have his son back, and basically get rewarded for almost destroying two universes. Olivia is also freaked out by Peter and is giving him the cold shoulder. Why? Because she can understand why Peter visited Walter before he came back, they're related. She's confused as all hell why Peter is showing up in her dreams, because as far as she knows, they have no connection.
Oh, we do find out why Nina and Olivia are close in this timeline- apparently after their mom died, Liv and her sister went to live with Nina and were raised by her.
Heh, in any case, Peter figuring out the way the new human hybrid shifters work and how they would be totally indistinguishable from the real thing is total foreshadowing that someone is going to be replaced.
Interesting though, so are these new shifters from the other side? It doesn't seem so, perhaps they're a third party? Asian chick was communicating with her superiors via typewriter, which oddly did not require the mirror. And now that she has the stabilizing agent, more are coming. But from where?
Nikita- You know, the intrigue on this show has actually gotten good! Its like, could there be any more players on the board? And heh, was this the first time they said Madeline's character on this show is also named Madeline? Also, since when was Ryan supposed to be this uber-analyst? Was that always the case, or are they doing a bit of retcon to give him a more interesting role?
Heh, I also didn't know Nikita cared so much about him! Being out for blood when she thought he was dead was kinda weird. I mean, I can see her doing that for Alex or Michael, I'm surprised Ryan fell into that category. But interesting, so Amanda fakes his death so she can use him to take down Oversight, since she overheard them saying they're not too pleased with her tenure as Division leader and are looking to replace her. Ryan was intent on them killing him because he'd never work for an entity like Division, but that's before he heard Amanda's offer. Wonder if he will actually take it? I know, its a rhetorical question, if he said no, then there's no story.
Sean also got more interesting. So Madeline is his mother? Heh, I like how he's the honorable boy scout, and apparently unaware of all the shady stuff going on with Division and Oversight. I also like how he went after the Midas guy, because he wanted to bring him to justice, and was even telling Nikita she shouldn't kill him, because he wanted to bring the guy before the law, not execute him. But as soon as he mentioned Sean's mom's name, he dropped him, even before Roan got the order from Amanda to do the same thing. (And what the hell Mike? He sniped at the Division team, and Roan wasn't his first target?! Its like geez, if there was a perfect time to try and kill him, it would be then, where he wouldn't see it coming! Because Roan is dangerous as friggin hell, you don't want to fight him fair, because he definitely won't) And he was intending to quit Division because its not what he signed up for, but now that Nikita knows his mum is part of it, he's sticking with Division to protect Madeline, but will quit "once its all over". Good luck with that, buddy.
Finally, a Gogol hit squad comes after Alex, but she and Sean make short work of them. It turns out one of them is a former childhood friend of hers. Heh, so the story that guy who betrayed her dad is telling former loyalists is that Division kidnapped her during that fateful raid, and have brainwashed her ever since, intending to use her as a pawn to control Udinov industries. Heh, the amusing part is, they're actually not wrong about the Division plan, Alex just doesn't know it yet. But ha, it was hilarious when she was trying to explain herself, and its so fantastical that of course its unbelievable to her old friend. In any case, she hoped she could try and convince him of the truth, become friends again, but Amanda had the guy canceled as he was too big a threat. Also, with Gogol strike teams after her now, she's back living at Division under constant guard. So that's a third person this ep who Division has gotten under its thumb.
