Vampire Diaries- So, tonight's ep was mostly flashbacks, with Bex telling the story of her family. Aw, I actually thought relationship between Becky, Klaus, and Elijah was kinda sweet. And as people suspected Mikael was indeed their dad. But even more surprising the do a little fake out with the "Original Witch". At first, you think it may be this witch Ayanna, who was with the family. But, it turns out Original Witch is not the first witch ever, but rather, the witch of the Original family, who is as it turns out is their mum, Esther.
Anyhoo, so Mikael took his family to the Americas after hearing about the magnificence of werewolves or some such crap. But then one day, one of them kills his youngest son, and he asks Ayanna to do a spell to bring him back. She refuses, so Esther does a spell that would protect their children from dying forever. Which turned the family into vampires. (But not herself, as one can be a witch, or a vampire, but not both. Hence she stayed a witch, and Becky has no magical powers) So what personality aspects got magnified in the three kids (for some reason they only show the three of them, even though it seemed like there were more)? Rebecca was stubbornness. Eli was honor. And for Klaus, it was his inability to get over those who disappointed him.
Anyways, the rest of the story we know, Nick ended up not being Mikael's son, but rather had a wolf for a father (and Nick wasn't exactly his favorite son even before this reveal, as Mikael felt he wasn't serious enough), which was revealed when he first killed someone. (As the werewolf gene kicks in after they first kill someone) As far as our girl Becky knew though, their dad (whose personality flaw was pride) was pissed about his wife's infidelity, and she placed the hybrid curse on Nick and shunned him to make amends to Mikael, but that wasn't enough and Mikael still killed her.
But that's not the truth. From the cave drawings, Elena figures out it was an angry Nick who killed Esther (after all, she disappointed him, so in his rage he slaughtered her) So I guess that's one reason Mikael is hunting Klaus down? In any case, Becky is all sad, because even she realizes the truth. So maybe she's on their side now?
In the B-plot, Damon takes Stefan out for a night of fun, as he thinks that would work better than having him locked up. And you know, I've always enjoyed the brothers when they were both being bad. They're hilariously fun. And you know, the tension between them would cease if they'd just have a Devil's Threesome with Elene or Kat, I'm sure Kat would definitely be up for it, and I think there's a part of Elena that would be open to the idea.
Anyhoo, they're met by Mikael, who is sans Katherine, so we still don't know what happened to the impossible to not be cute bad girl. Anyways, Mikey threatens to kill Damon, going as far as putting his hand into Damon's chest and inches a way from ripping out his heart, if Stefan doesn't reveal were Nick is. Despite the compulsion to lose his humanity, Stefan still cares for his brother, so while he doesn't know where Klaus is, he can lure him back. Which is enough to satisfy Michael.
Of course, Stefan claims it was just because Klaus' death would free him from under hybrid boy's thumb, but let's be real here. Despite all that's happened, Stefan doesn't want to lose his brother. In any case, he asks Damon why he's working so hard to save Stefan, when he could just get rid of him so he can have Elena, but Damon says he owes him, after all Stefan was in that mess because he was trying to save Damon from Tyler's werewolf bite.
Owel, no surprise ending this week, just Damon and Elena thinking maybe with Mikael and possibly Bex on their side, maybe they can kill Klaus and be free.
