Sep. 24th, 2011 01:20 pmSo, decided to try out that new Takorea place instead of Hankook for lunch today. Amusingly enough, since some of the Hankook staff is pulling double duty, they instantly recognized me. I was a little surprised the waitress knew my name, because I don't think she's been at Hankook the times I've actually been in the last month and a half. Anyways, I figure I might as well put in my $.02 about Takorea. Its certainly much nicer looking than Hankook. (So a certain someone needn't worry about a certain something happening at this place) Its the same menu, with a few additions, like a delicious pork belly taco and a pork cheese steak samich. There's also the ROK noodle bowl, whose ingredients change daily.
On the downside, its a little pricier here, with the same items costing $1-$2 more than Hankook. They're only open for lunch so far, but they're slated to get their liquor license this Thursday, so they'll be open for dinner by next weekend. Hopefully prices will be the same as Hankook's for lunch once they start serving dinner. Also, its a true sit down restaurant with wait staff, so you'll also have to factor in tip.
As for the location, its on Juniper between 5th and 6th. So you'll prolly have to deal with more traffic getting there at dinner time than you would at Hankook. (unless Midtown is a more convenient location for you, of course. Particularly if you work at Tech.) It does have a bigger lot, but it also shares that lot with a couple of other businesses, so the parking might not be that much better than Hankook.
So all in all, it was pretty good eating. If you like the food at Hankook, then you'll like food at this place.

FPS Russia firing a damn mini gun:
I've got to know where he gets all these wonderful toys! My favorite part is how he fired it long enough to get the barrels glowing red. Also, is it me, or does a mini-gun not actually sound like a gun when its being fired. Honestly, if I heard that in the distance, I would've thunk it was someone doing yardwork or something.
Drive to Shitty Music trailer:
I'm amused by this because 1) the soundtrack, for me, was one of the best parts of the film, so it indeed would've taken away from the experience with different music. 2) Their "shitty" music choices are all on my music player. Of course, I always find it hilarious when people knock Party Rock Anthem. I actually like the song, un-ironically, but me brudder
sparkyboy, being the huge Christina Aguilera fan he is, despises the song for beating out Moves Like Jagger on the charts early on. (But hey, its ranked higher currently, so he should stop bitching)
Amusingly enough, at C's wedding in August, I was actually gonna ask the DJ to play "Party Rock Anthem" just to mess with him, but one of the guests beat me to it all, "Hey, this music sucks, why don't you play something good, like 'Party Rock Anthem'?" HA!
