Mar. 28th, 2011 01:07 amWhat the frak, Sucker Punch lost out to friggin' Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 in the weekend box office?! I'm not actually all that surprised, it seemed like a lot of people were on the fence whether to see this movie this weekend, and the bad reviews I think sealed the deal for them. Owel, I guess that just means it'll be out on DVD/itunes sooner for me to get. Like I said, I enjoyed the hell out of the movie, even if people are trying to convince me I shouldn't.
Hit the shooting range today to practice my two and ones. I don't know if my aim is improving any, but I think my technique is. Or at the very least, the shots that were off, I had a better understanding of why they were off. I also did manage to do the "zen shooting" thing I've previously only been able to do in Silent Scope. Like I said, I was practicing my two and ones, so with a 19 round clip, that's 6 of those, with one last shot left over. So after I did the 6 two and ones, I realized I had one last bullet left and was all, "Oh, I have one bullet left!", so suddenly a zen calm came over me, and I instantly took aim and snapped a shot off in one quick motion, getting it right through the center "+" of the target! Awesome.
Heh, I also noticed I did better on my two and ones when I didn't think about it. Like I'd fire off my two to the center of mass, followed by the one to the head, but when I realized I was doing good and tried to continue doing well, my headshots were straying and missing the head.
Afterward, went to the ex-roomie for more Mansions of Madness (which we lost), and some Betrayal. Shockingly enough, the first game of Betrayal, I ended up being the traitor (since in this particular instance, it ended up being the one with the highest speed). Now, I didn't think my chances were too good, because I think the usual suspects are way better strategists than me. Of course, my only goal was to take them all out (well just the one who was the heir), and if there's anything I'm good at in a game, its killing stuff. I was a little worried, because the way the board ended up set up, it seemed like it would be very easy for them to win. (They had to get to a certain room, and if it had not been laid out yet, I was supposed to place it in a position that would be hard for them to get to. Unfortunately, it was already out, and practically right next to them) But despite not being the best strategist, I've always been good at setting up choke points. And there was no way they could get to their goal without getting hurt by my assassins, and then once they whittled them down, I just ran in and easily took them out.
Well, I didn't know their exact goal, just that I was supposed to be stopping them from getting to that room. But there were a couple of items mentioned, so I figured they need to go to that room with those items. I was intending just to steal one of those items from
phatjoe, but the disparity in our physical stats was such that it was easier just to fell him outright. And he had a revolver, which let me make my attacks based on speed +2 rather than might, and given I was made the traitor because I had the highest speed, I became ridiculously powerful. Of course, they inadvertently revealed the heir by telling K to go in the opposite direction of that one room since I was in the way. The revolver also lets you attack people in other rooms as long as their line of site, and I knew all I had to do was wait my turn and blow K away since he was in LoS. But, he had high mental stats, and since they still needed the items I had to win, he risked trying to attack me to forgo damage and instead try to pickpocket me for the items. But I blocked his attempt, and it was even easier to smoke him, giving me the victory.
It was nice, because a game like that, I would never have expected to win against everyone else working together against me.
