I could take on a six foot bunny!
Is it me, or are the 4 chyx in that one Target commercial totally milf-y? Even if they do weird stuff like weight lift with laundry detergent.
Since I've been on an Exalted kick since Infernals (which is my favorite Exalted book since Abyssals, I still can't decide which one is better) came out, I had been looking on what's going on with the system. Apparently, there's a new book in the works that I'm really excited about, "The Scroll of Exalts". Heh, apparently the cover is an homage to the AD&D Player's Handbook? But yeah, they have a representative from each of the exalted classes- Faka Kun for the Solars (you know, I didn't realize she was a Solar), Manosque Cyan for the Infernals, Cynis Avaku for the Dragon Bloods, Excessively Righteous Blossom for the Alchemicals, Maiden of the Mirthless Smile for the Abyssals, but I have no idea who the old man Sidereal is (EDIT: apparently its Chejop Kejak?), nor the Lunar on the altar. I'm surprised they didn't throw a Fair Folk in there (Laughing Boy seems to be one they like to use a lot), given "Graceful Wicked Masques" came out this year, but they're not actually Exalts, I guess. (BTW, were there Fair Folk, Infernal, and Alchemical books in 1st edition? Looking through the 1st ed books I have, they all existed in first edition, but I'm not sure if they put out supplements to allow one to play as them)
But yeah, its supposedly an NPC book. Which I find awesome, because there's definitely a lot of cool character designs they show in the comics in the book that I'd like to know about. I'd also like to know about the signature characters (the snippets I've seen seem to indicate the book will contain info on them), especially the Abyssal and Infernal ones. The Alchemicals as well. Oh, and Crimson Banner Executioner and Black Ice Shadow of the Sidereals, I always thought they looked pretty bad-ass. Ah, and the un-named Solar gunslinger guy, hopefully. Plus, the DKs they briefly mention under the Deathlord write-ups in MotE:A. Particularly more on Typhon (whom I didn't realize was written up in the original main Exalted book), the Melkin Fool in Red, Meticulous Owl, Shards of Basalt, and the Visitor in the Hall of Obsidian Mirrors. (Harbinger of the Cold Ghost Wind and Ebon Siaka are at least covered in the main book and the underworld book, respectively, and I still find the Abyssal naming system hilarious)
I just want to know more about them. I mean, its cool that they're stating them out, but I've never put much stock in stats. They're good as a frame of reference, particularly their charm sets (since there's a lot of those, which charms they have does impact what tactics they favor), if they can cast spells, and their favored weapons. But I've never thought of published stats in supplements to be their "definitive" stats. I think they provide a starting point, but need to be modified according to the game. But yeah, I'm definitely egg-cited about this book, though it sounds like its a long time away.
TV Commentary:
True Blood- Okay, this ep was totally hilarious. I loved Amanda Jane and the god Rockets, performing "Jesus Asked Me Out Today", it totally made me think of that one ep of South Park when Cartman made that Christian rock band. I mean, when the song ends with the lead singer highlighting her jail-baityness with the line "I'm still your little girl in braids", I find it amusingly ridiculous that that camp doesn't see the irony of it all. A commentary on the whole Disney marketing sex under the guise of good moral values? Speaking of jail bait, what the frick was up with that one store lady thinking Bill was buying stuff for his daughter, but then showing him the shortest skirt evar? What kinda father would even think of buying such a thing for his daughter?! But that was hilarious when she finds out Bill is a vamp and wants to invite him back to the changing rooms for sexy results, and then he refuses, and then Eric shows ups and she assumes they're gay lovers. HA!!
But what the hell was Sookie thinking, taking Jessica to see her parents. Like did she not see Jessica rushing up to her house coming? Its not like Sookie could do anything to stop her had she tried something! Oh, and that does seem kinda lame that Bill could mesmerize someone inside to invite him in. That kinda defeats the whole "you have to invite them in" thing, if they can just stand in the doorway and glamour you into inviting them in! But I'm guessing he's not going to actually kill them, he's prolly just going to glamour Eden and Jessica's parents into forgetting the whole thing. But now that he's fighting with Sookie, he'll change his mind and let Eric take her to Texas to find the one missing vampire sheriff.
Other funny stuff? Lafayette trying to escape and the one lady shooting him, and then she freaks out, and when Lafayette tells her to get some towels so he can stem the bleeding, she freaks out again because the towels were dirty. Again, HA! I don't think Eric and Pam and the other guy killed him though. Even though they all jumped on him, I'm guessing they will turn him in the end. Otherwise, it seems like such an inauspicious end to one of the sort of main characters.
Also funny- Jason at the camp. Especially when he went into PSTD mode during the play, and snapped the American flag to try and stake the one chick. Well, the funny part was when his frenemy roommate called him un-American for "snapping the American flag like some sort of Muslim Buffy with a dick!" That's such a hysterical line!
And what the frick is Admiral Cain/Ro (I can never remember her character's name) At first, I thought she was some higher level shapeshifter than Sam, but she seems to be some powerful spirit, or perhaps a demon? I mean, Sookie read her mind and heard that weird chanting in a foreign language (I wonder if she knew Sookie read her?) and then apparently she can force Sam to shift, as well as whip the clientele of Merlotte's into a hedonistic frenzy?
Criminal Intent- Ah, so they were going that direction in the ep. Well, I guess the beginning where he was shocked by his daughter's cleavage was a big hint, but I thought it may have been just an offended so he's destroying all the sinful influences in his daughter's life. But when he freaked out when his daughter was hugging him in the car, it was indeed the whole "repressed sexual feelings" thing. And who can blame him, Britt Robertson is cute and nubile. (And totally legal, though I guess its still creepy given she was playing a 13 year old last year on Swingtown, she just looks underage)
In Plain Sight- Interesting, no witness this ep, but I guess they wouldn't have time for that. But wow, Mary can be a totally ungrateful bitch. I'm glad the one chick gave her the verbal smackdown she totally deserved. I mean, the whole thinking she was an FBI spy was incredibly bitchy, but saying her dead husband was made up, totally over the line, especially given last ep, where she was hesitant to pursue a relationship with the boss guy because she's still broken up over her hubbie's death.
So it turns out the FBI guy is doing all this because he blames himself for a fellow agent's death, but its because he switched shifts with the guy so he could frak the guy's wife! But hopefully this arc is over, and they don't have to worry about that whole thing anymore.
Interesting though, so the bug wasn't the FBI, but did Laura Prepon's character plant it, because they make it sound like the half-sister thing is true, but that doesn't jive with her bugging the place. But how else could the bug have gotten there? But what's up with this mysterious deal her dad made? At first, I was thinking, how ironic that her dad was in witness protection, but it doesn't sound like he is, especially since he just walked out of jail and the police lied and said he escaped the bank robbery instead of being arrested. Because while I do understand protecting a witness, I don't think the police perjure themselves to throw people off. Plus, it seems like they had the partner dead to rights, it doesn't seem like there was anything else he could offer. What's that about? And Laura Prepon's family is the family he made once he was free? cliffV('What's up with that?!') I am interested to see how that develops.
