Computer, when do I get my tang? Also, I'm thirsty!
Doing purchasing a couple of weeks ago, I didn't realize how cheap flash drives were nowadays. With prices that low and them being so small, is there any reason not to carry one just in case? In this modern world, its up there with having a multi-tool, flashlight, lighter, and internet-capable phone with gps and a video-capable camera on you at all times. So I picked up an 8 gig one for myself for ~$15 (with my own money that is, and not from the places I purchase for work, because that would be kinda illegal).
Other things I bought this week. Oh, a black 2009 Nissan Versa. I know I'd been talking about getting the Ford Focus, but the Versa ended up being cheaper. And the reservations I had about the Versa, reviews said it didn't have a lot of oomph, it seemed kinda small, those weren't as bad as I thought. Its a little roomier than I expected, and driving on the highway, it performs just fine for me. Hearing the slow acceleration from 0 to 60, I was worried, but I can weave through traffic just as well as my old car. Plus, since its a new car, there's no loss in power if I'm running the AC. Now I have to come up with a new name for it.
TV commentary:
Supernatural- Okay, this week's ep was a funny MotW-kinda ep. It seemed disconnected from the main story arc at first, but at the end, it actually is. It was a test by a new angel, Zechariah, to show Dean that hunting is in blood. That even put into some successful rich life, he'd still be seeking out that evil-fighting lifestyle. Ha, and the angel brings up a good point, he's doing something fulfilling, plus he gets to drive a cool car and fornicate with lots of women. Who wouldn't want that life?!
But ha, when Sam first sees Dean and is all "you look familiar", Dean thinks he's hitting on him! And the Ghostfacers are back, in website form, helping out the Winchesters, but also referring to them as douches. Interesting though, so their fake lives, Dean's parents are the Harvelles, and Jo is his sister? Isn't that kinda incestuous? And Sam was engaged to werewolf girl? Interesting that those were picked for their fake lives.
Terminator: SCC: You know, if you get past the way the show tries to be too artsy and boring, I think there's a lot of potential there in the plots. Its interesting how things that seem meaningless in previous eps actually have an impact in later eps. Like the weird dream clinic ep, you think all there is to it is Sarah getting captured and escaping. But all this time, she had a transmitter in her (around which a cyst formed, so she first thinks its cancer) and the bad guys have been biding their time. At first I thought they were in for a surprise when they tried to jump Derek and Cameron, but it seems like they know she was a terminator. Too bad they still grossly underestimated her. But while Derek/Cameron took out their guys, and Sarah got away, it looks like John got away but Charlie died protecting him. Speaking of, interesting how he showed up both on here and 30 Rock on the same week.
But it seems like this whole time they've been trying to push this idea of multiple machine factions. Interesting, we've been assuming John Henry is Skynet, and that's what Weaver is working to do. But, in a similar fashion to T3, looks like there's this sophisticated virus out on the net that tries to take control of John Henry, with similar code that makes them "brothers" and referencing Miles Dyson. Mebbe that's the makings of Skynet, and John Henry and Weaver are part of the other faction?
Friday Night Lights- So the Panthers have managed to roll their way into the Semis. Billy and Mindy's wedding is also approaching. Now I know Mindy is a stripper and all, so a lot of her friends are strippers, but really, what kinda name is Fashionette?! I guess you can say its unique. So, Joe Mccoy gets more and more mad about JD going out with Madison and getting distracted at practice by her. He finally blows his stack after JD gets lucky and manages to win despite some missteps in the semi-final game and starts standing up to him. Lucky for him, Coach and Tami are around to save him from getting beat up by his Dad in the Applebee's parking lot.
Interesting, they're wanting to redistrict Dillon, and split it across the middle, re-opening East Dillon. Tami kinda supports it, because the state's funding it, and it could help with getting the money they need to get everyone a good education. But the boosters take it over, changing the lines to include current and future Dillon players. Coach catches them, and tries to give Buddy a talking to, but given Buddy has nothing left but football now that Lyla is pissed at him, he blows his stack at Coach and tells Coach that he needs this too. He basically tells Coach he can continue to raise a stink about it if he's really against it, or he can just let them work their magic and stop trying to pry so he can have plausible deniability. And he does lie to Tami that he was totally unaware of what they're doing when she brings it up.
Tyra's scores aren't what she needed, and she starts to wonder why she's trying so hard when Mindy's happy enough, so her mom gives her a pep talk of how amazing she'll be. Looks like she and Landry are also closer to getting back together.
Lyla's also almost decides to become drunk white trash also (skipping school, playing drunken video games with Billy, etc), given she got into Vanderbilt, but can't go because Buddy lost her college money. Lucky for her, Tim breaks her out of her funk, and tells her she'll figure out her way.
Dollhouse- Wow, Dollhouse is starting to get good. (And is it me, or was the outfit Eliza Dushku wearing this ep totally HOTT! Though you can't go wrong with a schoolgirl-ish outfit and long white lace stockings) Wow, things are moving fast now. I was expecting more MotWs before we got to the meat and potatoes of the main plot, but apparently not!
Now, I don't really understand how their mission this week worked. So, they sent all the Dolls except for November (Mellie) and Echo (for reasons I'll detail later) to "secure the campus" before the effects of that drug spread. I know they thought the Dolls were immune to the drug's effects, but it just seems odd they made them a multi-agency task force of people who don't know each other. Why couldn't they be more cohesive? Its not like they interacted with anyone on campus other than themselves. So it seemed like an overly elaborate disguise when we don't see them interact with any regular people.
And how was that outbreak not much worse? Yeah, the effects wore off after a few hours, but it seemed like they only isolated that one building, not the entire campus, and it seemed like there were tons of people effected just wandering around willy nilly. And none of them managed to get out and affect the rest of the city?
So, Adele, Topher, Boyd, and Laurence are all dosed and funny. But we do get some interesting reveals. Like mebbe the whole thing between Laurence and Echo is two-sided? Or a circle? Because it sounds like he's aware Echo is starting to remember him, so mebbe a lot of his "Let's kill Echo!" is fear-based. Anyways, I think one of the funnier gags is when Boyd calls, and you think he's finally broken free and figured everything out, but nope, he was still out of it.
But anyways, they hear its a memory drug, and even though they say the Dolls don't remember anything, they've had evidence these past few eps they do. So why the hell would they think the drug wouldn't affect them?! So while the normal folks get all silly, the Dolls start to remember everything- Echo was already remembering things since she used to go to the college, but the drug jumpstarted even more memories. We see Victor used to be an Army guy, trying to save someone in the Middle East. Sierra flashes back to her rape, while November starts getting all weepy and jealous over Helo, convinced he's using her as a surrogate for Echo. Oh, and she almost says the code word to activate her killer self.
But yeah, we actually learn who Caroline was. She was one of those lame, student-activist idealistic eco-fighter types that I so hate. She actually stumbles on pre-Doll research, and apparently her activities had her tangling with Adele more than a few times? Well, not that they necessarily met her, but the stuff Caroline fought against was stuff Adele was involved with? Anyways, he bf gets killed, and hence she makes the deal with Adele. So, is the five years thing bullshit? I mean, they talk like the memory erase thing is permanent, so if that's the case, wouldn't there be anything left of them to be freed in 5 years?
Anyways, apparently, that's how they recruit? Because in the end, they try to recruit that one guy responsible for everything because he was trying to sell the drug to a competitor of the Dollhouse's parent company. So they say the dolls are all volunteers who want to get out of a mess they're in, but I guess only those who are relatively attractive get that offer? I mean, lots of people wish they could have another life, but obviously, the Dollhouse only wants certain people. So people more likely to want another life, like uggos and fatties and other losers would be rejected.

Lol. When you started writing about the new car, I immediately wondered what you'd name it!
