There's just not enough time in the day, is there? If only our sleep cycle was 4 to 6 hours rather than 8.

Monday night TV commentary:

Where to start in this weeks Heroes? How about Micah and the Uhura clan, since I've always liked the power his cousin seems to possess, photographic reflexes. Anyways, in addition to Uhura, it seems Micah's living with 2 cousins. One is a little punk who doesn't like Micah at first, but Micah wins him over by getting him free Pay Per View. It was a little confusing, because the kid started off by asking Grandma Uhura and his sister for $65. which we later find out is for the Pay Per View. But its not like he gives $65 in cash to someone, you still have to call it in and charge something. So unless he has like a debit card or something and was wanting an ultra quick deposit of $65 in it, I can't see what $65 in cash would do him. I know, I'm nitpicking a ridiculous thing, but it would've been more appropriate to ask for the pay-per-view rather than $65.

Anyways, his sister, Monica, is the only one of the family besides Micah we see that has powers. Back story wise, her mom was killed in Katrina and they lost everything, so she couldn't go to college like she wanted. So she was all excited about a manager position at the burger joint she worked at, thinking she would get it because she aced the test. (For someone who's seen so much tragedy, she sure is naive!) As I said earlier, it looks like her power is photographic reflexes, making her a male Taskmaster? A non-deaf Echo? In any case, she sees Rey Mysterio doing the 619 on her brother's pay-per-view, and uses it to thwart a robbery at the burger joint.

I'm curious though, if she can copy anything she sees, like the aforementioned, or is it only stuff she sees on TV. In any case, if I had that power, I'd start watching all the action flicks I could find. I'm also curious if its limited by her physical abilities. Taskmaster and Echo are pretty athletic people, so when they were copying folks like Daredevil (that's the only one I can think of that they both have definitely copied) they could accomplish those feats. Would Monica know how to do something, but not be able to do it because she's not strong or athletic enough? I mean, knowing how to do the 619 and accomplishing it effectively are two different things. But she seemed to.

In the comics though, it seemed like what the Taskmaster could copy wasn't limited to the realm of reality, at least in the limited series. He was watching John Woo flicks to be a bad-ass gunfighter, and an even more interesting trick, watching martial arts flicks fast-forwarded to do the moves ridiculously fast. So in that case, the power was used to mimic something not real- because in the movies they're doing something that looks effective, but if they were mimicking the actor/stuntman they're watching, then they could mimic the move as seen real well, but that doesn't mean it would work in real life.

HRG is still freaking about the painting, so since he sees Claire kissing someone in the background, he focuses on that and thinks he can prevent it from coming to pass by forbidding her to date. She sees West secretly though, but still hasn't come clean that her dad is the guy that kidnapped him all those years ago. I still don't see how she thinks its a good idea to lie to him about it. So when West finds out on his own, he'll think Claire was playing him this whole time? Its like giving her dad the evil eye last week. Its not like she didn't know he did that sort of thing. I'm sure if she sat West down and explained about the Company and everything, he'll be a little more forgiving.

After Claire gets back from her secret date, she finds Noah waiting up for her, all creepy. She covers by using the classic, "people know you're lying and/or keeping something secret, so reveal a less important secret to throw them off the trail, that way they'll think the 'lying/secret keeping' indicators were for that secret other than the real one". (Its a trick I know real well!) What does she claim she was out doing? Partying with the girls after making the cheerleading squad. HRG is mad at first, but he thinks that's better than her dating and him getting shot in the face. So he goes to the Ukraine with the Haitian (Ukraine is game to you?!) to find the rest of the missing Mystery Sock paintings.

Maya and Alejandro bump into Sylar in their quest to reach El Norte. He's all, "Yeah, me and Papa Suresh are best buds!" so they're all excited at this turn of events. The stoner guy whom they're riding with in the stolen car (so mebbe it is Claire's Nissan?) finds out they're wanted. He tells Sylar, because he thinks he's a normal nice guy for some reason, and Sylar's all, "Hmm, you should turn around and call the cops then!" So the guy does and Sylar brains him with a brick. He reveals to the twins he knows they're wanted, but wins their trust by saying he knows people just like them, with powers that they can't control and they don't mean to hurt anybody, and has helped them with Papa Suresh before. I'm curious though, if he kills them both, what would happen if both their powers are in one person instead of split amongst two? Of course, I'm still not sure how their powers work. Is it like his powers cancel hers out, or do they have the same power, but he has better control, so he can neutralize what she does as well?

Speaking of NY, Mama Petrelli is confessing to the murder of Kaito, even though she didn't really do it. Matt knows she's lying, but Angela tells him to drop it, and its for the safety of everyone involved. Matt tells Nate, who recognizes the pictures of his mom and Hiro's dad from a big picture he's seen before. Supposedly, Kaito used to come around all the time, which seems odd that Hiro was a total stranger to him first season then. Even if Hiro didn't come around with his dad, you'd think Nate would've recognized the name at least.

Anyways, Nate shows Matt the pic. Who do we know from it so far? The Petrelli parents, Hiro's Dad, Simone's Dad, Linderman, Sammy Jenkis, and apparently, Matt's dad. (That's 7 of 12, I guess the other 5 are unknown as of yet?) Matt wants to get Molly to find his dad, who abandoned him when he was young. But she says he's the nightmare man! So, Matt and Mo have a lover's spat about Molly seeking him out. Eventually, she acquiesces to it, and finds him, but then goes catatonic when the guy sees her seeing him. The ep ends with her screaming for Matt's help inside her head, while her body seems to slip into a coma. Good job, Parkman!

In tonight's Chuck, Chuck finally finds out Sarah was dating Bryce from her hot DEA agent friend. Anyways, DEA girl is all, spies can't let anyone in because their lives are all about lying, and he tries to get some bit of truth about the real Sarah (other than she hates olives) at the end, but alas, he doesn't. She reveals her real middle name is Lisa (or is that real name?), but Chuck's out of ear shot.

In any case, the mission of the week, Chuck, Casey, Sarah, and DEA girl steal a diamond from a hairy guy. This entails Sarah and her friend to dress in ridiculously skimpy dresses and it is awesome.

Do you pick up on these things first viewing??? Cause your bro and I were watching and I was joking her power was Culinary arts and that she'll multiply the dinner food so they'll never go hungry.

And I totally missed that the Haitian said Ukraine and thought you were making a witty reference to Odessa being a place in the former USSR as well.

I still think the HRG guy in the pic is Sammy Jenkis.

Sometimes. Heroes rips off a lot of classic comic book storylines actually (the Linderman thing was totally the plot of Watchmen), so there's a lot of things I (and prolly other comic book readers) recognize before someone who prolly doesn't read comics.

Though with Monica, the "photographic reflexes" thing has always been one of my all time favorite powers in comic books, so it was easy for me to recognize. I did find it weird she was looking at the cooking show funny in the beginning, but when she mimcked it at the burger joint, I was suspecting/hoping her power was photographic reflexes and was happy it was.

I was just reading the first appearances of Echo in Daredevil (which was my first exposure to this kinda power, I never heard of the Taskmaster), so it was weird that she had that power. Echo watches lots of martial arts movies, though based on how her abilities seem to work, it seems like she shouldn't be able to copy stuff that was done by special effects or wirework or anything. Also, they went to see Mallrats in that arc (since Kevin Smith wrote the previous storyline), and mentioned Stan Lee's cameo... how the hell is that supposed to work?

Which is what I was curious about. The Taskmaster limited series made it seem like someone with that power could. But like you said, she shouldn't be able to copy things done by special effects, because its not like she's mimicking someone actually doing something at that point. Even barring wire fu, there are a lot of moves guys like Jet Li and Tony Jaa that look insane, and while they're cool acrobatic moves, I'm not sure they'd be necessarily useful in a real fight.

With all the free running/parkour in movies nowadays though, that would actually be a cool thing to watch a lot of. Because those are usually in the realm of physical possibility, and would have an actual use, like for getting away from someone.

Oh, and mebbe its like Last Action Hero. Stan Lee is a famous comic guy, but his stories are about totally different characters from those in the Marvel Universe, like Sgt. US, the Z-People, Hornet-dude, and the Amazing 8.

The idea with echo is that she has like a recorder for physical moves, so she wants to amass as many moves as possible so she can pull out effective and unpredictable shit from a huge bank of stored moves.
