Well, that was an interesting mess yesterday. I get home, see that the dish is up, and go to Oxford. I didn't bother actually checking the satellite was working though. So I get back, check it out and see there's no signal. Apparently the workmen must've knocked it or something, but it wasn't even that far misaligned! We have no ladder, so I had to get on one of the folding chairs which barely reached, and I don't think I moved it less than an inch before signal came back. I can't believe that little change totally took out the signal. But wait, there's more! I check the mail, and see a letter from dish saying "open immediately to avoid interruption in service". I feel a smartcard in there, and thought it would be just my luck that this was a late letter and the service would cut-off tonight because the new smartcard isn't in there. So I open it, and there's a smart card for the receiver in my room because the one in the living room has already been changed. So I change it, and promptly lose the local channels on both receivers. Now, if it was just gonna effect a show I only watch, I can deal. But ABC has Lost at 8 and West Wing at 9, which the roomie watches. So I ended up on the phone with Dish for an hour, but finally got the channels back right at 756, just before Lost started. Thankfully, there were no problems after that, so I ran to Mama Fu's for dinner and did the Weds night TV thing.

It was interesting to finally see Sawyer's back story. And the letter being written by him is an interesting twist. Pretty good ep, learn a lot more about the characters, Shannon is an asthmatic, Sayid was a torturer. And though they've done nothing but argue in the previous eps, Boone and Shannon really do care for each other a lot. Though the asian chick knowing/finding the natural herbal cure for the asthma attack was kinda prosaic. And what's with all these forum people gushing over Claire-Charlie? The guy promises her peanut butter, and gives her an empty bottle of pretend peanut butter and that crap actually works?!

And what's with Sayid, Sawyer and Jack all vying for Kate's attentions? Well, okay, she's hot. And Locke is becoming less of a Yoda and more of a Palpatine. Before, he was all sage-ish, but he's slowly becoming more and more manipulative. I mean, he basically riled up Sayid against Sawyer (I mean, anyone who's watch television knows how to make a time delayed fuse?) and then he gave him a knife. I don't know what his game is, but it'll sure be interesting to find out.

Smallville was lame in comparison to Lost. The whole Lana, Lois, and Chloe being possessed by evil witches was interesting. And they found a way to bring in the whole fact that Superman can be affected by magic so its always been an effective way to fight him from the comics. But execution wise, it didn't have spark. I mean, it has the girls all slutted up, but it just wasn't as edifying as Lana in Nicodemus, or Jersey-only wearing Chloe in that ep a few weeks ago. They could have done more! And now they really are doing the Lex liking Lana bit?
