TV commentary:

Fargo- A little more commentary on the ep. Apparently Ray Wise's character introduces himself as "Paul Marrane". Which for those who aren't up on their Jewish folklore, is one of the names of "The Wandering Jew", a guy cursed to walk the Earth until the second coming for taunting Jesus on the cross.

Anyways, the show already had freaking aliens, so I don't see any problem throwing in the supernatural. Honestly, if the Fargo TV universe has both aliens and immortal Jews carrying out divine justice, that's pretty cool.

Maybe I'm reading too much into things, but given they have a supernatural character from Jewish lore (apparently the script for the ep lists DJ Quall's character as "Golem" as well) summoning vengeance on the descendant of killers of Jews, and the fact that Sy and the Widow Goldfarb are obviously Jewish can't be a coincidence? Particularly with Vargas poisoning Sy, perhaps we'll see Paul again when Gloria, Winnie, and/or Nikki bring him to justice?

Oh, I forgot to mention that the kitten thing was a nice touch. I mean, previous to Ray's death, I think it was up in the air whether Nikki truly loved him or if she was conning him. But between the kitten thing and her thinking about their last conversation together, where he volunteered to get the money, I think their relationship was definitely real.

That can't be Jewish folklore though, can it? "He taunted some regular guy, so he's cursed until the regular guy returns to be regular again"? Sounds more like Christian folklore (most likely anti-Semitic Christian folklore, since the Jewish guy is mean to Jesus).
