Even more Glee commentary:

Heh, since Paul Anka's "You're Having My Baby" was one of the songs this week, and I wasn't actually too familiar with him until Gilmore Girls when Lorelai named her dog after him, I had asked [livejournal.com profile] clevemire, "What's a song he did that I might know?" And then he's all "Yeah, he did this really creepy song" which happened to be "You're Having My Baby". HA! But I guess the lyrics are indeed totally creepy. I mean, "The seed growing inside you"?!

But then the forums were talking about the creepiness of the other songs in this ep. Like "Young Girl" is a pretty old song. I mean, its prolly older than the PARENTS of a lot of the viewers. I mean, they change the lyrics around to suit the ep and make it that Will in no way reciprocates his student's crush, but in the original, isn't Gary Puckett saying the girl is too tempting and she should go before he succumbs?

But anyways, the forums brought up Benny Mardones' Into the Night as a creepy song. I had to look it up at first, since I didn't realize it was a song I knew. So once I heard it I was all, "Oh, that song. I always thought it sounded nice." And while I knew the song started "She's just 16 years old...", but I never actually really listened to the lyrics. Particularly the sex-offenderish implications of "If I could fly, I'd pick you up, I'd take you into the night and show you a love like you've never seen, ever seen", since the start of the song implies he's singing about a teenage girl.
