The Boom Anime Babes that make me think the wrong thing!
Sporcle's OC character quiz- I am shocked I did not ace this. It killed me that I could not remember Zach or Taryn's names. I mean, I knew who they were from the actors, but I just couldn't remember the character names. But the other two I missed were Carter Buckley and Matt Ramsey. Who!? Oh wait, I remember who Matt is now. He was that guy who worked for Sandy when he took over the Newport Group who was dating Inara. And I think I have a vague recollection of Carter. But I can think of a number of other characters that deserve to be on this list before him. Holly, Sadie, Chilly, Luke's little brothers Brad and Eric, hell I'd even put Jess and Dean Hess before him. I guess he just wasn't memorable to me. Mebbe it was because he was part of a Kirsten storyline? I mean, I almost didn't remember 7 of 9 was on the show as well, and she was also a Kiki character. I mean, I think Kristen is fine (and FINE), the writers just never knew what to do with her, so her storylines that were hers alone mostly sucked. Though I still put any of her stuff above the awful Rebecca Bloom storyline Sandy had.
Even more Exalted stuff: Just got through the Adjoran charm trees, and I have to say, she's by far my favorite so far. Her motif is speed and stealth, which you know I favor over brute force. Most of her charms require one to be dashing, but as I said in a previous post, they don't get the DV penalty one usually gets normally, plus there's no penalties/danger of slipping on treacherous terrain, and with a couple of other charms, they can do the wall/roof run thing as well as the being able to run over anything and take no damage regardless of what it is you're running on (lava, acid, broken glass, etc)
Of course, she gets some really good extra action charms, and what makes her extra action charms better than the extra action charms of other exalts is they don't have to be all the same type of actions. The Solars' Iron Whirlwind Attack and the Abyssals' Time Scything technique, they all have to be melee attacks or their Trance of Unhesitating Speed/Withering Feathered Maelstrom all archery attacks, etc. Well, there is one caveat- they can't be ranged attacks, as Adjoran abhors attack at range (not ranged weapons, she's perfectly fine with her peeps using firewands and bows and the like at point blank range). But it does give flexibility in that the Infernal can do other things besides attack with those extra actions. And with Scarlet Rapture Shintai the infernal can do some dynamic combos, able to make multiple attacks but also combo another charm in there with STS on the fly (i.e. a small combo you don't have to create and spend xp and training time to learn).
But yeah, whilst dashing, the Infernal favoring Adjoran charms is impossible to hit (i.e. perfect dodge even attacks that are undodgable), so you'll need to trap them in a place to limit their movement to actually hit them (which, given their ability to run across any plane and not take any penalties for hazardous terrain, plus they can dash-climb and dash-swim, is more difficult than it sounds). Even better, they can actually recuperate from dashing, and since Adjoran is also about killing stuff (though not in the same way as Malfeas- Mafleas' Slayers are unstoppable berserker warriors, Adjoran's Scourges are the quick and stealthy assassins), from just running around slaying people left and right as well.
I'm not too keen on her silence motif, other than her charms allow one to run silently and be invisible while doing so. But her last charm tree seems rather useless. Based of the charm "Hateful, Wretched Noise", its a set of three charms that fit in with the whole "hating sound" aspect of her, but its like why would one ever waste xp getting those when her other charms are more useful. Its like "Hateful Wretched Noise", you get the benefit of the keen hearing and touch charms and unsurpassed discipline of hearing and touch (though only the hearing part) always on. Which does give you bonuses against people trying to sneak attack you, but the drawbacks don't make it worth it. Its like, within the presence of sounds louder than the whisper, the infernal takes minuses to actions (higher if its shouting level noises). AND, you get an unnatural compulsion to silence that noise by any means necessary.
So its like, just walking down a city street, your ears will be in pain, and you suddenly want to start cutting throats to make the talking stop. You can spend a willpower to avoid the compulsion and penalties for a scene. But it seems retarded to constantly have to spend willpower all the time just to give you a hearing advantage that'll prolly only come into play only every so often. And the bonuses aren't even that great!
So I was thinking, okay, maybe the two charms its a prerequisite for are pretty good. They're not. One of them, you swallow you voice but gain the ability to speak telepathically. Only people can only understand you if they friggin speak old Realm or you both have 5 in the same virtue! The other is a neat trick, but that's all it is- if someone tries to fool you into believing a lie (whether naturally or through magical compulsion), you can counterattack and make them believe it as well. Sure, its funny, but again not worth the xp cost in my opinion.
Besides, while "silent as death" is cool some of the time, sometimes you need musical accompaniment to your mayhem and massacre.
(pulling out of the cut) So speaking of, on my "how well do you know me quiz?" on Facebook, I reference a playlist on my ipod called "m2k2", which I said was music to kick ass to, though the k actually stood for something else.
