You know another movie I've never actually seen but people prolly think I have? Zoolander.
A movie I saw yesterday? Get Smart, with the usual suspects. I liked it. Glad to see it didn't get beat out by The Love Guru. I mean, the trailers and commercials made that movie look totally horrible, but these past few movies I've seen, so many people were laughing hysterically at the trailer, and I silently wept for America. But the fact it didn't even break top 3 has restored some of what little faith I had in humanity. But getting back to Get Smart (which was tops at the box office this past weekend), while I enjoyed it, there was one thing I found kinda jarring. I'm not too familiar with the show, but I assume Maxwell Smart was a bit of a goof, like he bumbled his way into success. And Steve Carrell does play the fool at times. But when it came time for action, usually spy comedies are a little campy with the action, but he's frickin' one-shotting people left and right! It was just a little weird for them to switch between him shooting himself with mini-crossbow bolts and doing something stupid, and like killing bad guys left and right. I will say he is the most competent of the goofball spies in these kinda movies.
An observation I've made about Megan Fox? Her hotness for me seems to be inversely proportional to the amount of lipstick she's wearing. I mean, the hottest she ever looked was in Transformers, and when she's out and about not wearing a lot of make-up or in a photoshoot where they're going for a more natural look, I think she looks great. But when she's all dollied up like a whore, especially with the really red lipstick, she looks, well, whore-ish.
Owel, now I can segue into Hack/Slash because she was "supposedly interested" in playing Cassie Hack in the movie adaptation of that series. And how hot would that be? Seeing her dressing in all those skimpy sexy super-hot-punk-rock-goth-emo (hey, their description, not mine) outfits, like the short plaid skirts and black bras under the mid-riff baring fishnet shirts and knee high boots and that weird socks on the arms thing? HOTT! But yeah, just read the Murder-Suicide mini and the Spin-Psycho supplement cross-over/collaboration whatever with SuicideGirls.com. Bloody brilliant! Yeah, it was total fan-service, but is there anything really wrong with that?
Also halfway through "Tramps Like Us". Its a pretty good series, I don't think I've been this compelled by a shoujo (what am I, an emo fag?) since Kare Kano. It definitely has a lot of emotional moments, and not just in the main storyline. A lot of the side stories are that way. Just read the one with the old lady who also had a dog named Momo, that was a poignant little story. I'm definitely interested to see how this series ends. I mean, I think people would riot if it didn't end a certain way, but at the same time, I'm curious to see if and how they'll transition to that point.
Sunday night TV commentary:
So on the 2008 Guy's Choice awards on Spike TV last night, "Iron Man" won guy movie of the year. It has me curious though, is the reason Iron Man is so popular because he's not as broody as some of these other superheroes, or an archaic goody-goody from another century, is cool and a lady's man without being a faggy Briitsh dude, and still has an everyman quality about him because he doesn't really have super-powers (though being an brilliant genius and having a sophisticated flying battle suit does give one an instinct advantage)? But he did lose on "biggest ass-kicker" to Jason Bourne. But that's fair, as Jason Bourne kicks ass without having a high tech suit of armor. Of course, he can't take on tanks and jet fighters like Iron Man can. And I still say Iron Man post Extremis is too powerful.
Also, that Katy Perry chick has been getting popular lately because of that one song of hers, but didn't another chick do a song called "I Kissed a Girl" already? Like a decade ago?
So VH-1 has "I Love the New Millenium" this week, even though we're not passed the oughts. At the same time though, it is 2008, so there's only a year and a half left until we get to the tens, which is kinda freaky. We're like almost up to the 2001 sequel. And the future of Back to the Future 2!
Okay, so last night's of Criminal Intent, was Sue Ellen Mischke expecting to hook up with the Captain at the end, had they not figured out she was the bad guy? I mean, she was getting the nursery ready, and since the one guy was dead, I assume she was gonna try to get back with the Captain after he comforts her through this ordeal?
Ah, on last night's "In Plain Sight", I figured Dave Foley was "Lola". I mean, I was suspicious when they had no idea who Lola was and only Dave Foley had met her. But when they mentioned a random guy dying in the prison he was being held that was "unrelated" but they weren't taking any chances and moving him, I was all, "Ah, he purposely got himself caught so he could kill that guy".
