Saw AvP Monday night. Was meh. While I always thought the Alien vs Predator concept was cool, I actually had pretty low expectations for the movie, so in that regard the movie actually exceeded my expectations. It was still nothing to write home about, but it had some cool parts to it. I was disappointed we got crap trailers. No Blade 3 trailer with vamp-killing bad-assedness and Jessica Biel pretending to be Faith hotness. Speaking of trailers, I still find the current Hero commericials and trailers extremely deceptive. That could be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective. If you think its just Jet Li mowing through armies of enemy soldiers and duking it out with other martial arts bad asses like Donnie Yen, you might be disappointed. I mean, there's still lots of action but its not your typical man out for revenge so he kills a bunch of people flick. Then again, if you want a little something more, I thought the storyline was kinda interesting, one may be pleasantly surprised there. In any case, Jet Li and Donnie Yen are still bad ass, and Zhang Ziyi is still a total hottie. Even though I've seen it like a dozen times already (after all, its a two year old movie, and the roomie picked it on import DVD of it at Oxford last year) I'll still see it in the theaters, just to see it on the big screen. Though I wonder if it will be subbed or dubbed?
I also picked up Time Crisis 3 with the Guncon 2. That's 60 dollars down the drain. I noticed on the back of the box before I opened it that the guncon 2 does not work on certain types of TVs like LCD and rear projection type TVs. I should have guessed that meant the roomie's huge-ass DLP TV wouldn't work with it, as that is a type of rear projection TV. But in a world where they have to spell every thing that should be obvious out for you, like Dr. Angus not being a real doctor and the Angus diet not being a real diet, or even worse that they actually had to clarify the faces on the "Guess Who?" board game didn't actually talk, I figured they'd be totally specific and say "plasma" or "dlp" wouldn't work. Anyways, before I opened it, I tried going to the webpage they listed on the back of the box that would list what types of TVs the guncon2 would or would not support, but the url didn't work. So I said, screw it, and decided to test for myself. And of course, it didn't work. Now, you can use the controller to play, but I find it totally unmanagable that way. I guess I could try to return it. and see what I can get. Or I could get an extra power ps2 power cable and just unplug the component cables, the fiber optic out, and the power and just hook it up to the TV in my room whenever I want to play it. Or get another PS2 for my room. But the latter two would be kinda dumb, I should just repackage everything in the box and see what I can get. I'm a little skeptical about my chances of even getting store credit, because it is opened, and the box does warn you that it doesn't work with rear projection TVs, and I should know that includes DLPs. But I guess it doesn't hurt to try.
