Picked up K-revolutions vol 1 & 2. Owel, I seem to be decent. But prolly a foolish purchase overall. Also wanted to get a flat right lens for my glasses so I can just wear them all the time instead of having to carry them around all the time in case I need to read. But it would be fucking 60 bucks at lenscrafters. I'm not spending that much for something I'm gonna end up replacing at the end of the month when I get my new prescription. It wasn't nearly that much at the place connected to the eye doctor's, but when I tried to replace it last week, the guy said, "You're prolly okay with the current lens." Looking through only it now, he was wrong. I mean, I can see, but I think my left eye is doing most of the work. Bah!

Tried to go to some new samich place over there just down the road Bacchanalia/Taqueria del Sol/Vigo Pasta area. But alas, they don't do dinner. Ended up going to Taqueria del Sol instead. That place gets too insanely crowded. Well, it wasn't crowded, but the line is insanely long. We got there right before it did, but I myself couldn't justify waiting in that line that long.

Caught the midnight showing of The Village with the roomie, c-note, and [livejournal.com profile] clevemire. Personally, I think it was okay, and I think the rest of the guys also found it passable. But wow, I haven't seen that many people pissed in a theater since Blair Witch. In its defense, I think the movie was way better than Blair Witch (bdtbwv(' "Nothing's happening... nothing's happening... something about a map... nothing's happening... nothing's happening... it's over. A lot of people look pissed off.')), I think a lot of those people just had high expectations. If you go in expecting something as good as The Sixth Sense, you'll be sorely disappointed. Its definitely the worst of the four. Of course, I liked Signs, so someone who hated that movie might not agree, but in any case, its behind The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. I don't know why exactly, I think the acting was good, and it had its moments, including a couple of cool surprises, but that "Whoa!" denouement he's famous for doesn't really pack any punch here. Its like once you find out you're all. "Oh, okay." No "Whoa!", not even a wow. Not worth missing the little amount of sleep I got last night, shoulda caught a matinee.

Now you've turned me off from seeing it... I didn't like signs. Yet at the same time still intrigued. Probably check it out if I'm bored.

Yeah, you should prolly just see a matinee, and definitely if you have nothing better to do, otherwise you'll feel like you got gyped. Like I said, its not bad, it just not that good either, especially compared to his other work.

You also reminded me. I have the see Unbreakable. It's actually for school reasons. Supposidly someone has Osteogenesis Imperfecta, collagen disorder... Lol.

Had you not seen this yet? I thought I saw it at your parent's house once?

Yeah, we have the DVD, I lugged it to FL with me. I was probably in the room while the rents were watching. But probably wasn't paying attention. At least it's not totally ruined like A Beautiful Mind was for me.

so what new sandwich place is this?

[identity profile] geebs.livejournal.com 2004-07-30 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
Dang, I forgot the name of it already. Its like a mile or so down that side road next to Figo Pasta that dead ends on Howell Mill. Alas, they're one of those places that closes at 3pm. I don't know if Krug has tried it for lunch yet.

hmm, this is sounding pretty suspicious--is it pangaea? its pretty old if thats the case--we've eaten there twice on saturday lunches--its pretty good although not as orgasmic as the review makes it sound--i wasn't as knocked out with the lemongrass pork banh mi as he was--the paninis were my favorite there...

and they were offering dinner there for awhile--maybe its not doing as well as it used to...

we saw the trailer for the village last night (we usually don't see any trailers for hollywood movies but we saw the rerelease of the original godzilla last night & they threw it on)--it actually looked a lot like signs (which i liked also, even if it was more or less a morality play) to me...

I believe that's the name. I dunno, Krug just brought the menu home the other day and said it sounded interesting. Yeah, I think a website he saw said they were serving dinner, so we drove over there last night, but it was closed and said it was only open until 3pm.

There are some very slight similarities to Signs, but yeah. it too is a morality play.
