Saw the midnight showing of Spiderman 2 last night at Parkway Pointe. It was pretty cool, that's all I'll say. Okay, I'll say a little more. It had several comedic moments, and I enjoyed the action. The fights between Spidey and Doc Ock were well done, I think, very super-hero like. Its easy for the fight choreographers to just be lazy and rely on wire-fu and Matrix-like effects to give us a "superhuman" feel. While there was some of that, they did a good job of integrating both Spiderman and Dr. Octopus' abilities into it- Spidey's agility, web-slinging and wall-stickiness, and Ock's mechanical arms. I think one of the disappointments in X-men was the under-use of their powers- they basically fought it out Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon style before, they realized, "Oh wait, I can hit them with a powerful blast of energy!" Even Rogue just uses her powers to knock people out! I suppose on could argue she and Iceman are "kids" and thus can't be fighting it out yet. But while the Nightcrawler scene in X-2 was cool, when did he become this martial arts bad-ass? Or Toad or Mystique?
I dunno, in my opinion, the Spiderman series is prolly my favorite of the recent comic book flix to come out in the last few years. Hellboy was okay, but nothing special there. X-men was cool too, but I found my mind drifting at times. Daredevil could have been better. And I didn't see the Punisher, but I don't think he translates well into movies anyways. His whole schtick has been a plot of action movies for decades! I don't count Blade. Honestly, Blade is a comic book character, but I think the movie is its own animal. I doubt he would have made a comeback in the Marvel Universe if the movie wasn't successful. I mean, before the movies, its like "Blade who? That vampire guy who hunted other vampires back in the 70s?" Its like making a movie about Luke Cage and the Iron Fist!
Getting farther in TF. Got all the mini-cons I currently can. It took a while, especially with tricky gliding you had to do. But now I have plenty of goodies, like my all-time fav, invisibility. Got a flak cannon so those pesky fliers are no longer the problem they have been. And I can also use it to take out those pesky dropships orbiting around. It was offending me that there was something out there I couldn't destroy. And I got a chargable blaster a la Metroid Prime. Anyways, I'm getting better, but I still suck. It took me forever to beat Cyclonus, and as such, went into one of my frothing, loud-cursing tirades upon his death. But its cool, I take on Tidal Wave next, that should be eggciting.

Toad, I think, is a legitimate complaint. But I think they just needed a random bad guy, picked toad, then realized "a high jumping sticky guy is a really crappy foe for people that can control the weather and shoot lasers out of their eyes, let's make him darth maul!"
Anyway, it seems that your opinion of comic book movies is based almost entirely around fight choreography, so having any kind of discussion with you about their quality is pointless, since fight choreography is extremely low on my list of priorities.
