TV commentary:
Man, the recent renewal/cancellation news has been crazy. I was pretty annoyed they canceled Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the Mick and the Last Man on Earth. Thank goodness, NBC saved B99, but I'm annoyed the Mick and Last Man on Earth ended on huge cliffhangers. I'm also disappointed they canceled Great News, and definitely angry they canceled the Expanse.
I'm hoping someone will pick it up, but Netflix just renewed Lost in Space (which is a good thing!), and have some other sci-fi shows they're starting up, so there might not be room for the Expanse on their platform. And I think I heard Amazon just dropped a bunch of money on an Expanse-ish show, so its doubtful they'll pick it up. I'm just more annoyed at the crappy deal Syfy made when they got this show, because honestly, it does make a whole lot of sense to drop the show. But you'd think they could renegotiate their contract or something.
I'm surprised Elementary was renewed given how far back CBS pushed it. (It freaking started in May!) Its hilarious they renewed Lethal Weapon given the mess with Rigg, but apparently they're replacing him with Stifler who's playing a new character. Gotham was supposedly not going to be renewed if Lethal Weapon was, but apparently it did for one last season.
Killing Eve- I suspected something like that was going to happen. I figured that Carolyn and Konstantin knew each other. As to how much they know about each other and their activities, who knows. But Kenny is wanting to secretly tell Eve about some stuff he uncovered about his mom.
But wow, Villanelle didn't see that betrayal coming? Its funny how keen her killer instinct is, she has a blindspot to Konstantin. Like as soon as he said the mission was her infiltrating that prison, and then after she did the deed, he'd get her out after, it seemed obvious he was going to leave her there. Of course, it also seems unwise, because man is she going to be pissed when she gets out.
But interesting, so if Nadia is to be believed, she was originally the one who would've been recruited to Villanelle's job, but then Villanelle said she wanted to meet Konstantin, and the rest is history. She also pointed Eve to Anna, and more interestingly, since Konstantin was secretly menacing her while Carolyn and Eve were conducting their interview, this is info he's fine with them knowing for some reason.
Westworld- Ah, as people suspected. This Grace lady who escaped from Rajworld is indeed William's daughter. We also find out William was involved with some project to somehow turn his father in law into a robot. Or rather, make a robot based on his father in law? But apparently robots based on humans tend to fall apart mentally after a few days.
Is a successful human engram what was hidden in Abernathy's head? Is that what Delos is looking for? And wait, isn't Bernard based on Arnold? Or is he just a robot with a personality similar to Arnold, but not an actual attempt at a true copy?
But yeah, we see where Clementine dragged him off to after last ep. To a cave, where Elsie's chained up. She's angry and pissed, since as far as she knows, he attacked and choked her out. But she thought he was an actual human. Imagine her shock when she finds out he's really a robot!
Anyways, Bernard jumps all over the place memory-wise, but the gist is, he finds a secret lab in the same cave Elsie's chained up. When they go in everyone there had been slaughtered, and as we find out it was by Bernard and he faceless robots (who immediately killed themselves afterward). Not that he tells Elsie. Anyways, they find the last remaining human-host hybrid of William's father in law left, also in that lab (and which William had not destroyed like they usually do, seemingly as an F U to his father in law) So now they know human-based hosts as an attempt at immortality is a thing. Since that thing was a mess, Elsie put it out of its misery.
We also find out that Bernard grabbed a host brain pre-slaughter, and had also printed someone. Who? We also see how Ashley survived since last season. Apparently the Ghost Nation guys had captured him and a bunch of guests, and whoever Hanzee from Fargo's character is, he lets them all go.
Into the Badlands- Well, that was easy. Sunny and Baijie (and later Nathaniel) run afoul of "blind cannibal assassins", whom we find out are people Sunny blinded when he was a kid. Anyways, Sunny and Baijie kill them all and escape, freeing Nathaniel after (since he promised to try and kill Sunny if they freed him, so they left him chained up while they killed all their other enemies and got back Sunny's boy)
Anyways, once they get out of the blind folks' layer, Nathaniel challenges Sunny. Sunny tries to make an impassioned speech about never ending cycles of violence (which, interestingly enough, Tilda made to MK at the beginning of the ep when he went to go after Sunny to avenge his mom's death). Moon is not swayed until Sunny is all, "I'll give you back your sword, and if you choose to strike me down, I won't stop you. But if you do, you got to take care of my kid!" Apparently that satisfies Nathaniel, so he lets him go.
Meanwhile, Pilgrim has been sending out flyers trying to recruit people to his cause. The Widow is like, "what's up with this guy?! is he a charlatan?" So she and Lydia go to see what this guy is like. Unfortunately for them, Chau has a brother, whom she imprisoned for crimes against her, and let him go to assassinate this Pilgrim guy for slaughter all those guys at that one checkpoint.
So while Pilgrim talks with the Widow and Cressida with Lydia, Chau's brother attacks, killing some of Pilgrim's followers. But the combined forces of Pilgrim, Widow, Castor (Nix was busy randomly running into MK in the forest), Lydia and Cressida (both of whom hold their own pretty good) kill all the would be assassins except for Chau's brother, who escapes.
Also, the Widow is now very interested in Pilgrim, since she 1) saw he has a follower who is "gifted" and 2) Pilgrim has the ability to turn that gift on and off. Wonder what happens when he finds out she used to be gifted, so if she did ally with him, it would prolly be to get her gift back.
