TV Commentary:
Walking Dead- Interesting, so the show is continuing to deviate from the comics. I did just read an interview with Kirkman about the show, which I found pretty interesting. Like how he wishes he could go back in time and add Merle's brother as a character in the comic. (I'm a little skeptical that Merle will end up being the Governor. Like how's he gonna pull that off?) He does seem to indicate the show will follow the comics, but will get to add all sorts of side stories that he didn't get to do. This CDC thing is interesting. The comic doesn't bother to say why there are zombies. Its just not important. However, that may not be satisfying to some viewers, so I'm curious if this will provide some explanation for what's going on. Which will invariably lead to disappointment to some people, as I'm skeptical they can come up with an explanation that satisfies everyone.
Speaking of, I find it kinda hilarious that Kirkman set this thing in Atlanta in the beginning, but had no idea the CDC was in Atlanta.
In any case, the TV series does seem to enrich the stuff we see in the comic. More time addressing the whole Shane-Rick-Lori thing (rather than just making Shane some wife-stealing jerk), and I particularly liked the extra time they spend having Andrea deal with Amy in this ep. (alas, still such a waste!) At the same time, while they do focus more on little things like that, I've come to realize that there are storylines that would prolly just take an ep to cover- like if they do have the farm in the show, that should only take an ep.
Speaking of the comics, looks like things are coming to a head also. The whole conflict of the past few issues seems to have attracted a whole mess of zombies. Though I'm kinda confused on how big a problem that actually is. Is it that there's so many that the don't think the walls can hold? Or is it that the walls will hold, but now they have no way to go out and forage for supplies?
Dexter- On the one hand, I like the turn this season has taken, but on the other, I'm kinda sad because I don't think things will end up all nice and happy for Dex and Lumen. In any case, I still think they make quite the cute couple. I find it hilarious how Lumen must've looked like his perfect woman in the serial killer get up. And how I think a part of him was anxious on how her kill would go, to see if this would turn her against him, or if she'd handle it and she'd be the partner he'd be searching for all this time. They end up frakking after her first kill, but will she continue to be his partner after Jordan Chase is finished off?
In any case, the whole situation is crazy! Jordan knows they're after him, and they know Jordan knows they're after him. So in addition to both parties having to watch each their backs, it seems like there's that worry that one side or the other will slip up or get tired of the chess match and reveal everything. Not sure who has more to lose? I mean, Jordan has a whole empire that will come crashing down, and while some people may feel sympathy for Lumen, what she and Dex did is still murder. Plus Dex has a whole mess of other bodies on him as well.
But also insane is the pieces everyone has. Deb and Quinn know there's a vigilante hunting down the barrel killers, and it may be the missing victim, but they have no idea its Lumen. Robocop knows Lumen and Dex are killers, but I'm not sure how much he knows about their case, but once he does, I'm pretty sure he can figure out everything real quick. And I wonder what he's gonna do with that info?
