Didn't do anything on my actual birthday since I was sick, plus went over to the ex-roomie's the night before for Gloomhaven with pj and [personal profile] clevemire. So instead had dinner at the Wahlbergers at the Battery with the aforementioned sans pj, but plus S&S and their youngest.

It was good, but heh, K had let slip it was my birthday, so the waitress personally sang happy birthday to me. Which was a little weird, but she did have a nice voice.

Saturday morning saw Knives Out with the roomie. Really fun movie. Though ugh, fangirls are getting all pissed at Ana De Armas because they felt she and Chris Evans were being a little too flirty in interviews. Seriously? And weird, people ship their characters together?!

TV commentary:

Riverdale- Of course its going to be some fakeout. I think the gang is cooking up a plan to turn the tables on those private school tools. Because I was already skeptical FP would be all angrily arresting them for his son's "murder", because he'd be more confused than anything else, unless some huge blow up happens in the next few eps.

But even more so this ep, when jerkface and his gf are all, "yeah, that's who we saw murder Jughead!" Again, like FP would take their word over his son's friends!

And woah, I was expecting Gina Torres' character to be a secret bad guy, but nope, she seems on the level as a Counselor who actually is trying to help the kids. Poor Cheryl though- as Mrs. Burble says, Cheryl has been through a shit ton (I just realized a lot of the kids have dead dads now), and she's been proving resilient. But not resilient enough, so Burble says she can't in good conscience let Cheryl continue to lead the Vixens with everything else on her plate.

Legacies- I forget sometimes things in this universe move fast. Still, I was not expecting Vardemus to be revealed as Clark and defeated all before the winter break. I mean, they retrieved his body, so he's prolly not dead-dead, but still.

Also, why do people talk like Landon's leaving? Like whatever, Raf and Landon did this last year too. They'll be on the road for a couple of eps, but then of course something will draw them back.

And I get Alaric is a father figure to Hope, and she's become a daughter to him. And yes he's only now remembering her, but seriously, its kinda effed up that he's often way more affectionate to her than his actual daughters. Yes, being erased from one's mind and then remembered gets a hug like that, but I feel like finding Josie unconscious, having been tricked and used by Vardemus/Clark didn't even get such a reaction!

The Rookie- ojv('Man, its obvious!') Of course the guy Chen likes was the secret serial killer partner! I mean, I was already suspicious because he's played by a known actor, but I'm surprised his visit to the station didn't raise red flags. "Hey random girl I met for two seconds, I know you're a cop, so I'm going to go to your place of work unsolicited to try and ask you out!"

I don't think it was too crazy he happened upon her though- I did find it weird they were all randomly hanging with Armstrong, but it kinda makes sense, since the partner guy was probably watching him, and then zero-ed in on Chen as the target because of it.
