TV commentary:

The Originals- Heh, what is this, Charmed? So this new evil entity causing trouble is something called the Hallow? It turns out it had corrupted several NOLA citizens blanching under Marcel's rule. Like Kinney, and some random werewolf Hayley used to know. Just like with Vincent years ago, it appealed their desire to see the city free of Marcel and vampires.

The werewolf girl seems at least sorry for joining up with this force, because of it preying on the kids. She ends up killing herself, whether to be free of its influence or because she's effed because she's breaking away from it but has made powerful enemies in Marcel and the Mikaelsons and they're not know for being forgiving. Kinney however is all in, and despite Vincent doing his best to save him, Elijah has no choice but to kill him to stop him from trying to stop them from breaking the spell (which had at that point cursed Marcel and Klaus).

They do manage to break it though, though I'm skeptical that that loophole should have worked. So Vincent realizes the only way to break the spell was to kill one of the people linked to it. But he wasn't going to kill a kid. Elijah considers it, but Vincent instead says he can connect Elijah to the spell, and then they temporarily stake him, which somehow counts as killing one of the participants even though he's not really dead.

In any case, turns out the whole kid sacrifice thing was a ruse anyways, the main object of the Hallow was to get Marcel and Klaus to it to curse them. So at the end of the ep, they're under the Hallow's spell.

Other stuff, Hayley has a talking to with Elijah, because she knows if Vincent didn't come up with the solution he did, Elijah would've totally killed one of those kids. She implores him that they need to be better than that, that they have to stop damning the world to protect their family. That's not the legacy she wants for Hope.

Also, while all this is going on Freya and Keelin sneak into Marcel's apartment to steal some of his venom. Which, where was Sofya during all this (and not because the show could use more of Taylor Cole's hottiness, especially playing a bad-ass vampire), Marcel had gone off to help the Mikaelsons. But he's as paranoid as his former adoptive family. Surely he would have had her watching his place while he was out with the Original family and not just relied on protection spells.

Anyways, Freya gets Keelins's help by giving her a moonlight ring. But its ensorcelled so she can't take it off, making it a leash. However, after Keelin comes through in the end, Freya releases the leash and lets her keep the ring.

Also, maybe I'm just imagining things, but are they heading towards Freya and Keelin becoming a thing? The show is lacking in the lesbian department. Hell, they barely have gay representation since Josh is barely around.
