Vampire Diaries- Heh, that seems like a waste! Violet goes off the rails in the first five minutes (or rather, before the ep started) and kills a bunch of people, making her ripe for the picking for Stefan, who kills her. Why have that scene in the end with Caroline if they were just going to kill her off immediately?

Also turns out the bell isn't all its cracked up to be. So it will kill a siren if a Maxwell rings it 12 times, sure. But it also summons Cade and hellfire, with the potential to kill thousands of people. And since the bell is set up in the town clock tower, means destroying MF. When Stefan was temporarily dead last episode, Cade told Stefan he's behind on souls. So he was helping Sybil, Caroline, and Bonnie break out of the catatonic state he slipped into after Sybil's whammie. He needs his brother back in order to increase soul output.

But, Seline tells him he can get a bunch of souls in one felled swoop with the bell. So he switches teams and puts Matt under a compulsion. Apparently the ringing won't work if he just compels Matt to ring the bell, but giving him the option, "If you can forgive Damon for killing Vicki, then don't ring the bell. Otherwise, ring it!" To no surprise he cannot. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

So yeah, why is Sybil helping the gang revive Damon since she did that to him in the first place? Because Caroline will give her the bell if they can fix Damon. The siren takes Bonnie and Caroline into his mind, where we get a whole bunch of old faces, from the obscure like that Henry guy, to more familiar people, like Vicki, Liz, Grams, and Tyler.

His head is basically a version of first season MF without Damon, having not been turned by his brother long ago. Vicki was never turned and killed, Liz and Grams are still alive. Caroline and Bonnie are obviously happy to see their loved ones. Its weird, since its not them, but manifestations of Damon's subconscious. But yeah, Caroline has a sweet moment with her mom, until Liz discovers her daughter is a vampire and goes to torture her.

Its all a weird cry for forgiveness from Damon's head. Liz wonders why she's enduring all this to try and save Damon, and we finally find out why Caroline is still friends with Damon, after all he's done. Because he had become Liz's best friend, and so he was the only one who had felt Liz's loss as much as she did. And so letting know Damon she forgave him, her part is done.

Bonnie goes to Grams to get her to do a locator spell to find Damon. Heh, its a cute scene where she scandalizes her Grams by not only saying most of her friends are vamps, but she's even in love with one. Grams isn't that mad though (and again, its not really her) and says she'll need something of Damon's to do the spell. Since it is all just in Damon's head, Bonnie suggests the letter he wrote to her when he went into torpor. So she's able to produce it from a random drawer, because she knows deep down he wants her to fix this. Indeed she says if Damon wants her to find out what was in that latter, she needs to find him so he can tell her personally.

She's led to the crypt, but its not Damon there, but Tyler. He's all angry and chastising her on how can she forgive Damon for all the horrible things he's done, like kill Tyler. And it becomes clear what's really at play here, and what needs to be done.

Damon holds a lot of guilt, but there's also a bit of resentment towards his brother for turning him into this monster. So the girls convince Stefan to go into Damon's mind, where Damon tells his brother that while he does hold blame for his brother for choosing to turn him. And that there's a part of Stefan that does blame himself and seeks forgiveness, that's why he always tries to help Damon whenever he went bad. So Damon tells Stefan he forgives him.

Alas, Stefan is too deep under Cade's control, so he's all, "Whatever, you can die with the rest of MF when the bell rings!" But I guess Damon airing things out is enough to snap him out of his catatonia and he wakes up and rips Stefan's heart out, then rushes to the bell tower.

Matt's ringing the bell, begging his father to kill him, its the only way to stop the bell from ringing. But Peter won't. Nor will he run- running is what ruined his family, so he's going to stay for better or worse. Damon knocks out Matt at the 11th ring. And luckily, Stefan's compulsion was "ring the bell by 9", so once the time has passed, they no longer have to worry about Matt trying to ring the bell again.

So MF is safe, and Peter gets ready to take the bell out of town. Since this is an episode about making amends, Damon finally apologizes to Matt about Vicki, since he never actually did that. Matt doesn't forgive him, but if Damon continues to try and fix things, it goes a long way to that happening. And then Matt takes the sheriff's position back, since the current sheriff quit over Violet's massacre.

Damon then finally tells Bonnie what was in that letter, that he went away because it was easier to let her down this once. If he told her personally he was going away, then she'd convince him not to and he'd totally cave. And like Elena, she makes him want to be a better man. And he couldn't bare failing her.

But he lets her know he's not leaving her ever again. And it makes me sad for what could've been. Like had he left, maybe Bamon would be a thing, and she wouldn't have gotten with Enzo. Obviously, with only six eps left and Elena returning for the finale, it isn't happening. But as I said, I like to think they had their moment, but since Damon left they missed it. So the most they'll ever be now is best friends, which is unfortunate.

In the end, the Siren sisters meet up at a diner to try and make amends. But they're unwilling to forgive each other. Cade shows up at this point, because hilariously, 11 rings is enough to summon Cade, and I guess a 12th ring is just a pointless exercise to kill a bunch of people. They think he's there to recruit them again, but nope, he just immolates them. So so much for the Sirens!
