12 Monkeys- Some interesting time stuff here. So I think we already knew Jeanne from NCIS (I guess her name on this is Vivian?) was the Striking Woman's mother (imdb says her name is Olivia, but I'm racking my brain trying to remember if I ever heard her called that). But in one of many time loops (well, three) in this ep, it turns out she was the result of an ex-Nazi scientist's experiment to breed a superior human, one that would survive the coming apocalypse, eventually resulting in the Messengers. Which Vivian was one of.

So the Witness went to Nazi guy and told him to keep doing his experiments, which proved fruitless until Vivian came back from the future. And then he was able to use her to make Olivia, who eventually led to the creation of the Messengers and Vivian. So Vivian had a hand in creating herself.

Anyways, the time storm is getting closer to the facility, so they only have one jump left before everything is destroyed. Jones and Cole want to go to '57 to stop the paradox. However, Ramsey and Cassie want to go to '61 to kill the witness. They can only do one- stopping the paradox supposedly could stop the time storm. But killing the witness would stop his plan and prevent the paradoxes from happening in the first place. Jones decides on the former, because if they have only one mission left, she'd rather it be one of hope, rather than revenge.

Too bad for her, Dr Adler doesn't agree with her sentiment. Like Jones, he wanted to uncreate this future so his son wouldn't die of the plague. But since Jones' daughter fake died, it seems like she's not totally behind that plan anymore. But since Adler controls the jumps, he shunts the team to 1961. Cassie and Ramsey drug Cole and run off to Berlin to find the Nazi guy before Mossad to get the location of the witness.

Cole ends up contacting Gale for help. Turns out Gale turned into an alky trying and failing to hunt down Vivian. The prospect of the future Cole told him about got to him- he can't enjoy his family, his granddaughter, because all he sees is someone who will get culled in the coming plague. In the second time loop we learn of, Gale and Cole are talking, and Gale is all, "Now I've known you a long time..." and Cole is all, "I haven't seen you since 1944!" and Gale backtracks, "Uh.. yeah!" Its clear in the future Cole will interact with Gale many times, and I guess Gale was told not to say too much.

They get to Berlin, where Cassie and Ramsey almost manage to snatch the doctor, but are caught by Mossad instead. So Gale and Cole rescue them, and earlier, Gale showed Cole a communique between the CIA and Mossad about this whole mess and Cassie and Ramsey mentioning Titan and the Witness under interrogation. Which is the same file, albeit redacted, that they saw in the future. So Cole calls them dopes for creating the very clue they followed, wasting their time on a red herring. But it turns out the Doctor has one of those necklaces signifying himself as a follower of the witness.

He offers to take them to his lab, which is unfortunately in East Berlin, right as the wall is starting to be built. Trying to cross goes awry of course, and Gale ends up sacrificing himself so Cole can get through- he believe Cole can save the future, so he's hoping saving Cole will save his granddaughter from dying from the plague.

He takes them to the lab, where they see young Olivia as well as "the word of the Witness", which includes all their names as well as a mention of Titan. Unfortunately, Vivian shows up with some men, killing the scientist, and absconding with the girl. Cole wants to grab her, but unfortunately their tethers are calling them back. Cassie gets called back first, and Cole tells Ramsey to help get the girl (not sure what he thought they could do, since they're being called back, unless he wanted to kill the girl) but Ramsey goes for the word instead, ripping off the portion with Titan before being shunted to the future.

And then Cole finally gets back, and he and Jones order Ramsey and Cassie to be locked up since they can't be trusted anymore.

Other stuff, we find out Cassie and Deacon did have a one night stand, when they thought they were going to die. Alas, it sounds like it meant a lot more to Deacon than it did Cassie. So now he's all sad.
