TV commentary:

Daredevil- I enjoyed this season, it was a wild ride. Interesting, so Punisher is put on trial, and Nelson and Murdock take the case. Alas, they fail. I mean, Matt was kinda checked out of this case because he was busy with Elektra and the Hand, but Frank's the one who really ends up purposely tanking his case, having been blackmailed by a guard. Working for the Kingpin! Kingpin gets Frank to kill his main rival in prison, saying that the guy was there the day his family was murdered.

He was, and gives the Punisher some answers. It turns out DA Reyes wanted to get some new heroin player named the Blacksmith. So, there was a sting during a drug deal between the Blacksmith, the Cartel, the Irish, and the Bikers. Unfortunately for Castle and his family, the Blacksmith got wind it was a trap and never showed. Eventually, the gangs got antsy and it turned into a blood bath, with his family getting caught in the crossfire. As we learn from Reyes later, she didn't clear the park even though she knew there was a big deal going on because she wanted things to look authentic, not wanting to spook anyone by having the park be empty. Too bad she didn't know she was already screwed. So to cover it up, she had the medical examiner falsify records- saying the UC she had in the park was a random John Doe, while Frank and his family had been killed in their car by some guy who fired into their car.

Anyways, after Frank has a talk with this Dutton guy, he shanks him. Fisk planned to double cross Frank, locking him in the same cell block as Dutton's men, thinking they would kill Frank, killing two birds with one stone. He doesn't know Frank though, and Castle kills all comers. So, Kingpin, having secured his prison empire with Dutton being killed, helps Frank escape prison- he wants Frank to continue his crusade, so when the Kingpin gets out, things will be easy pickings. I mean, Fisk surmises that while Frank may not want to be his errand boy, he hates criminals too much to not keep killing them.

After he escapes, Reyes and the medical examiner escape, and it seems like its Frank doing it, but he was being framed by the Blacksmith. The Blacksmith goes after Karen too, but Frank took a shine to her and saves her. She's developed a soft spot for him too, and is saddened when eventually his quest to find the Blacksmith takes him to a shipment of the Blacksmith's H on a ship at the docks, and he seems to die in an explosion that takes out a lot of the Blacksmith's men.

She wants to do a story on him (its weird that she's become a reporter after Nelson and Murdock dissolved, more on that later) and meets with Frank's former CO who was a character witness at trial. While interviewing him, she notices a pick of him with one of the baddies at the docks, who claimed to be the Blacksmith. And thus, she figures out Schoonover is the Blacksmith. Lucky for her, Frank survived the dock explosion and has been looking after her (or did he also figure out Schoonover was the Blacksmith because he recognized his former squadmate?)

He saves her and captures Schoonover. Karen wants Frank to turn his CO in and let the justice system have him, tells him if Frank does this, their friendship is over. Frank chooses revenge, and Karen walks away. After executing the Blacksmith in his own toolshed, Frank finds a crapload of new hardware. He steals it all, then goes back home to burn it down, that part of his life gone for good. Which, has his home just been sitting untouched like that for weeks or even months?! I mean, I guess he was still alive, and he just never came back to it, but the bills were piling up and all that. And I suppose they have no other next of kin to look after the place? It just seemed weird that the house could just be abandoned like that for that long. Particularly after they thought Frank died. I guess they thought he was dead, but you'd think someone would be watching the place and thus see Frank go to his garage to spray paint his new body armor with the skull.

But yeah, back to the trial, the loss is the last straw for Foggy, and they end the firm, since Matt's too busy with Elektra/Hand stuff anyways. And Foggy's ex gets him a job working for Jeri Hogarth! Anyways, onto Elektra. So we find out she was the Black Sky the Hand had been looking for. Stick took her in as a kid, and the Chaste weren't too pleased with that. They try to kill her, but she kills them right back, and Stick helps. So, she leaves her with a rich Greek ambassador and his wife, hence her background.

Stick finally tries to off her nowadays though, thinking he can no longer hide her or suffer her to live. So she goes after Stick. Matt breaks up the fight, but then the Hand jumps them and makes off with Stick. Matt goes to rescue him, while Elektra follows to kill Stick, which is when they find out Elektra is the Black Sky. They get away and go to lick their wounds. Which is when the Hand takes all the people Matt saved hostage, which its weird there's only 20 of them? Or is that the only 20 people who bothered to file police reports?

But yeah, that includes Karen, which was kinda jarring. Its like, the last few eps where like two separate shows, Daredevil vs the Hand, and Karen and the Punisher. So its funny that after she goes home after her ordeal with Frank, apparently a bunch of ninjas kidnap her to draw Matt out?

Anyways, everyone seems to come together in the final hour. Melvin not only gives Elektra some new body armor, he gives Matt his new billy club with the cord so he can use it as a grappling hook and nunchuks and the like. Matt rescues the hostages- well, most of them. The one guy from the building where Matt had to take on all the bikers ends up getting shot in the head when he distracts the Hand when Karen tries to get another guy who has a ankle monitor to turn it back on. Which, I know she needed to alert the cops, but she had to know the first responders would most likely be toast, which they are. But yeah, Matt frees the hostages, and they flee to the safety of Brett's police perimeter, where Foggy has wandered, having heard about this mess.

So Matt and Elektra take on Nobu and the Hand, and Elektra ends up dying taking a stab meant for Matt. Matt goes after Nobu in a rage, and lucky for him, Frank also showed up, sniping the other Hand ninjas with his sniper rifle. Matt tosses Nobu off the roof. Nobu seems to come back, but Stick also managed to show up, and decapitates Nobu to kill him for good.

In the end, Matt reveals his secret to Karen, while the Hand steal Elektra's body for mysterious reasons.
