TV commentary:
Eye Candy- Wow, its cool how everything is actually tying together. So in the case of the week, they're trying to crack Babylon via a customer they've finally been able to identify. Since the Flirtual Killer has made transactions on it, they're hoping getting into the site's servers will reveal his or her identity. Anyways, he's some ex-model who ends up stabbing himself in the eye during a webcast. They saw the video on Babylon, and since the guy is kinda famous, they recognize him and thus can get to him.
Apparently, the guy liked to go to Babylon for whores, and while Lindy is hacking into his computer, she sees a pic of her sister. Its really a pic of her, not photoshopped. And the metadata indicates it was taken back in their hometown back before she was kidnapped. So it seems for real, what was her sister into? But there's a file hidden in the photo- Lindy's case file, which is heavily redacted.
So, she and George cook up a plan to clear the Cyber Crimes Unit building so she can hack into Katherine's computer and find the normal file. Additionally, she finds out the string of numbers and letters on that replica of her sister's bracelet (or was it her sister's actual bracelet, that got re-engraved?) are an evidence box. And here's where everything we've heard over the past few eps links together.
So, one year ago, Lindy goes to find help finding her sister from the Outliers, a hacktivist group that George is a part of, which is how they first meet. She passes their test, and is hoping to get a meet with their boss, JJ. When she leaves, we see the building is under surveillance by Tommy. Who sees her as the perfect target to try and turn to get to Bubonic. Apparently, this is post-Bubonic's gf killing herself. And it looks like there was more to that story than her just getting arrested out of nowhere and cracked and committed suicide as they sweated her in jail. Tommy had tried to cultivate her as an asset and obviously things went really wrong.
Ben has his reservations about this plan, but Katherine orders it. Only Ben goes off script and he's the one who approaches Lindy. Heh, we see back then Tommy liked her, only Ben got to her first. So they get together, and eventually Lindy is grabbed and gets a meeting with Bubonic. He wants her to hack and steal some files containing some identities a customer needs. And in payment, they'll give her info for her sister. So, she agrees.
Too bad Ben had her bugged and hears all this. So, he ends up revealing himself as a cop and arresting her for cyber fraud, because he thinks its too dangerous and that was the only way to get her out of this. Katherine is of course livid, because she was the customer and they were going to use this to catch Bubonic. And, it turns out, she really does know something about Lindy's sister's disappearance.
So now that Lindy knows that not only did the Cyber Crimes people play her, trying to use her against Bubonic, they know about her sister's case and have been keeping mum. She's obviously upset, and confronts Tommy. He tells her all he knows, Katherine came across her sister's file investigating some case about a kidnapper. But that's all he knows, Katherine's been keeping everything close to the vest. Lindy, angry at all this, quits.
And that's not the only thread being tied together. So, Sophia's been worried about Tessa, she's disappearing for days at a time partying hard. They catch her making out in the apartment with some ginger dude Connor recognizes from somewhere. Its not until the end of the ep that he remembers when- he was one of Lindy's matches when Sophia first signed her up for Flirtual.
Sophia thinks maybe its a coincidence. But given everything that's happened, she decides to look into it more. She does a search, and indeed, Tessa's on Flirtual. Wearing Lindy's clothes! Apparently she's been sneaking into Lindy's stuff, taking outfits, and going on dates with her matches. Which is unfortunate, because she's gotten the attention of the Flirtual Killer, with the ep ending with her on a date with him.
Given his voiceover is calling her "the fake", I wonder if she's not too long for this world.
