TV commentary:
Legend of Korra- Oh no she didn't! So we find out Lin and Su's history. Su was a bad girl, hanging out with Triad guys, committing crimes and raising hell. Lin caught her, and they got into a fight, and it turns out Lin's scars are from Su!
But cool, we get to see grown up Toph in flashback, and she shockingly covers up her daughter's criminal activities, sending her away to live with her relatives to improve her attitude. That never sat right with Lin, saying it ruined Toph's career. (Toph retired the next year, Lin claiming it was because of guilt over giving Su special treatment) But yeah, the sisters finally having a cathartic fight, which starts when Su goes there- saying she's a stick in the mud and no wonder Tenzin broke up with her. Dude, over the line!
But the fight does seem to get the stress and aggression out of Lin's system, so she's at a better place with her sister. Su also teaches Korra to metal bend. Bolin creeps around, obviously wanting to learn, but scared, as Toph is apparently his idol and he'd been trying to metal bend for years to no success. Su does say the whole only 1 in 100 earth benders can metal bend is BS, that any earth bender can learn.
Anyhoo, Zaheer and his gang escape from Republic City. Hilariously, they make Ming-Hua drive the getaway vehicle, even though she has no arms. Like given they were going over the freaking water when making their escape, shouldn't they have had someone else drive while she held the cops off? I mean, they did fine with gusts of wind and explosions and melting the bridge under them, but I would think the water bender of the bunch could've easily swept them away with like a tsunami or something! But he figures out Korra is in the metal city, which makes me worry for the Beifongs.
In the second ep, we see Tenzin dealing with trying to teach the new airbenders. Obviously, Bumi is a trouble student, Kai is rebellious and corrupting Jinora a little. She even gets a little big for her britches since she says she knows everything her dad has to teach AND has a better connection to the spirit world than he ever will. But it all works out in the end, when the recruits band together to take out some Air Bison poachers who capture Kai and Jinora. Bumi promises to be a better student, and Tenzin has more patience with his students and realizes his little girl is growing up.
